Names can quite often be deceptive. The Book of Mormon does not confirm Sacred Scripture. Church Councils did this.

I don't know. I think there's a lot of ignorance out there about what we believe. You see it on here a lot, "Mormons don't believe in salvation by grace" (we do), "Mormons practice polygamy" (we don't) "The Book of Mormon is the Mormon Bible" (it isn't, The Bible is the Mormon Bible, but we also read the Book of Mormon.)

I became a Christian at the age of 14 in an Evangelical church. I have followed Christ ever since, drawing nearer to Him over the years. I have never turned away from Him or renounced Him, but because I was baptised into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 23 and have been an active member ever since, there are those who would say I am not a Christian.

I have no time for their intolerance. I will trust in the Lord to judge whether I am His or not.

That is just the reason The Book of Mormon. It was added to the bible hundreds of years after the bible. I have known several Mormons in my life and every one of them were very good people and very caring people. I hold no ill will against the Mormons as a group really and well none on a one on one basis. I do take issue with the Book of Mormon, seeing as how it was written and all. Oh, do you know of any on-line websites where I can read the book of Mormon? I looked through it once but never really to time to read over it and look into it. I would like to do that. So if you know of a website where I can read it when I get time I would really appreciate it. You can e-mail it to me just click on my pic and then click send me a message. Like I said I would very much like to look into that book and see what all it says and so on. I am into history, so doing thing like this is a hobby. I am now looking into Islam, not happy at all what I am seeing either read a few books on it and will begin to look at the Koran and other religious texts they use next. I would like to look into Mormon's some more if you could help. Thanks =) DaveB.

Because you follow the writings of a single man, and none of the places in the book of mormon have any archeological evidence. The Bible is tested on many fronts and proven accurate, the book of mormon fails the same tests that the bible passes. Go to youtube and check out the hour long documentary The Bible vs. the Book of Mormon.

Not all who call Jesus their Lord will be at His right side. After reading the BOM and discussing some information with a school friend who was a LDS I realized that LDS is not talking about the same Jesus we worship.

God is the only true God that have existed, exists today, and will exist for ever. He was never another type of being or any other being will reach god's status or level.

Since LDS believe they (or some of them) will become gods like Jesus, and they will have planets to take care of, they are not christians.

It seems to me that Mormonism believes in a different God than the one revealed in the Bible. The God of Mormonism was once a mortal man. He was exalted to godhood by obedience to a system of doing good works. He is married to a goddess or at least a godlike wife, and he is restricted to a body of flesh and bones.

Also, Mormons believe in a different Jesus than the one in the Bible. The Jesus of LDS doctrine was born as the first of God's billions of spirit children. He is Lucifer's brother. At some point in the premortal life he became a person of the godhead. He was conceived of Mary by the direct physical action of the Heavenly Father.

These beliefs are very different from what most Christians believe. It seems to me that if things are different then they aren't the same.

There is evidence that shows the same. They aren't. Even the Bahai's say that. When a group like them who tries to include everyone in their fold puts out the Mormons because their teaching is "too different", that says a LOT!!!!!
-The BOM is a testament of Another Christ.
-The BOM is supposed to be the most correct book on the face of the earth but it doesn't support the cardinal doctrines of the LDS church taught today.

After reading all these answers, you realize the misunderstanding about the doctrines of the Mormon faith and even scripture.

They throw out things like this:
"God Warns about adding to or taking away from His word" In reference to a scripture in the Book of Revelations. If they can interpret the scripture to fit their needs, they will. However, they don't understand the scripture and would even ignore the word "prophesy" within that verse which helps explain its reference.

"They believe in a different Jesus"
This is a phrase fed to them by preistcraft. As if we believe in a different Jesus.

They also don't care that they can't explain doctrine from the Bible went it is confirmed in the Book of Mormon. In stead they would throw rocks at the word of God.

But its just lies fed to them to keep them away from the true doctrine of Jesus Christ. Mormons are Christians.

The Book Of Mormon is a fictional book attributed to Jesus Christ written by a liar and a cheat.
Mormons are brainwashed and follow a religion so full of holes that there is not one shred of evidence of any truth of what J. Smith wrote.....if the book is a fake so is the rest of the religion.
As for the rest of the Christians who think they are more right than you Mormons....guess what. The New Testament was written by men more than three hundred years after Jesus died and has been revised to suit the needs of the powerful. The Old Testament was written 3,000 plus years ago...by men.
The only contention they have is that there is archaeological and collaborating evidence to the dates, times and lives of the people written about in the Old and New Testaments.
There is NOTHING to collaborate the Book Of Mormon and in fact there is plenty to prove it is not true.
Read and think outside the box...if you dare.

Cause they call themselves christian, a lot of them. And most people don't give it the time or day to study to find out that Mormonism has only existed within the period that America has been founded. Just like they don't research Islam to find out that it was created 600 years after christianity and was a direct afront to christians and Jews. That goes for all of the christian religions (so called), including catholicism. 2000 year old Christianity is what it is, and always has been, and as the scripture states, New American Standard Bible (©1995)
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! -Galatians 1:8

True christians reckognize nothing else as authentic "christianity."

I rather call it "followers of the way," instead of christian-
