Not sure what you're question has to do with your statement. However, in answer to your question, Jesus brought a simple message for mans salvation; believe in me and you shall be saved. The truth is not riddled with complex mysteries or dogma. Sadly, most of us humans are not happy with simplicity, we want more, and, in our search for more we stray of that narrow path and end up following not Christ but man. The gate to hell will have to be wide to accommodate all those who will enter. As for the signs of the times, well all of those things have happened since Christ last walked the earth. There were abundant antichrists in the 1st century after Christs death. People have always suffered famine and disease and earthquakes etc have always happened. I suspect you are either a member of a certain group who claims to be the only route to God,or studying with them, they love to use these signs. Be wary their reasoning is false. They will say that these things have increased since 1914, however they fail to take into account pandemics such as the Black Plague, and the largest ever known volcanic eruption and resulting earthquakes when Krakatoa blew. Remember that all these things are subjective, I am sure the great Irish potato famine was just as devestating to the Irish as current famines are. They are also notoriously wrong in interpreting the signs and have prophesied the end since the end of the 1800's. Remember, Jesus said that it is not for us, or the angels, or the Son of Man know the time, only God. All God asks is that we love Him, love our fellow man and follow the teachings of Christ. Jesus said "Truly I say to you, unless you turn around and become as young children, you will by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens" (Mathew 18:3). Children do not get wrapped up in the meaning of prophecy, they simply accept, that is all we have to do.

It's simple really. Religion is a ploy that is used by those in power to control the masses of working class. Do what is good for the wealthy and you'll go to heaven, do what is bad and you go to hell. The gate to heaven is narrower, allegedly, because the elite want you to have to strive harder to get to "heaven," i.e. sacrifice more and put up with more inequality. Religion is the perfect motivation tool for the ruling class because it is both the proverbial carrot and stick while not costing them a dime because it is actually the working class that fund it.

13 “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.

My Bible reads the road to life is cramped. People keep wanting to go to heaven. We are supposed to be earthlings. Check out this article.

Doing the right thing or Justice is like that point of the scale where the balance is just right. You move to the left or the right ever slightly, then the scale will tip in one direction or another. Thus the path of being right is hard indeed.

In my personal belief, I am not capable of being right without the enormous help of the Creator, to whom one can look for help and He never turns down anyone!!

Your verse should be qualified with other verses that surely exist, that it is hard for one to attain salvation by your own means, without the help of the Almighty.

But, His help is there for the asking!! So, what a sad situation to have salvation in your reach, the rope in your grasp, yet drown in the sea of existence and not be pulled out from the raging sea!!

as i understand it.. the wide gate allows for all sorts of baggage that a person might be carrying.

Jesus said it this way: "come unto Me all you that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest for your soul. take my yoke upon you and learn of Me. for My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

while the narrow gate requires you to give up alot of things that you would find out that you dont really need anyway.

Jesus said it this way: "Martha, you are troubled about many things.. but only one thing is needful and Mary has chosen the good part."

the apostle Paul said it this way: "i count all things as loss, in order that i may gain Christ."

and this way: "lay aside every encumbrance and sin and be rid of every weight that would so easily beset us and run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up."

I believe that the reason why is because doing wrong, and sinning are simple, because we are all sinners by nature, and doing what is right, and what Jesus would do is more difficult because we have to fight our sinful nature, and that takes determination, unselfishness, and self sacrifice.

In fact I believe that only with God's help, The Bible, and fellow supportive Christians are we capable of walking that straight and narrow path.

It's the Bible's way of saying "Peer pressure." When a crowd is doing a certain thing, individuals give up their individuality and let group-think take over - it's easier than standing apart.

Jesus is teaching that there is an evil way and that sin is destructive. The next verse teaches that there is a way of righteousness that few can find.
