NO. It is not all about the caffeine though . Chocolate is made from the fruit (beans) of the cacao tree. Theobromine, a component of chocolate, is the toxic compound in chocolate. (Caffeine is also present in chocolate, but in much smaller amounts than Theobromine.)
Theobromine can effect:

* Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant
* Cardiovascular stimulant
* Increase blood pressure (mild)
* Nausea and vomiting

Other things you need to avoid letting your cat eat are;
tomatoes,
raw potatoes,
grapes and raisins,
onions,
mushrooms,
avocados,
garlic,
chives,
citrus fruit peels,
stems, leaves and seeds of apples, cherries, peaches, apricots and certain other fruit trees.
fireflies,
cicadas,
antifreeze which is obvious, but cats love the scent of it and will do their darndest to lick it, same with batteries,
milk can be bad sometimes as many cats are lactose intolerant, this is best found out on a case by case basis. Cream is better because the more fat it has, the less lactose there is. Also, your best option is to buy Catsmilk, it comes in little purple containers that look like juice boxes and are sold at per stores and wal-mart.

A number of common plants are also very bad for pets like;
lilies, ferns, azaleas and a slew of others. I am familiar with a few databases that have lists of poisonous things for your pets, so I will include them here for you.

Alot of people said that a little bit is ok and that none is ok.

I've always heard that any chocolate to an animal is poisonus. I've also seen shows where the vets/trainers/etc say that chocolate is bad for cats and dogs.

Best thing to do..to make sure no matter what..is just not give the cat any chocolate and buy him/her treats instead..They will be just as good, healthy and nutrious, and wont hurt your cat ^ ^!

Chocolate is toxic to animals, there are pet versions of chocolate for an occasional treat if your cat has a sweet tooth but otherwise keep them away from the human variety.

I was under the impression that chocolate in any quantity was bad for cats and dogs. I personally don't even let mine lick the bowl of ice cream or anything that's chocolate. I don't know how true it is, but i'm very cautious about it.

Chocolate is poisonous to animals, so I really wouldn't allow him to do that anymore. Of the different types of chocolate baking and dark chocolate are the worst then milk chocolate. If an animal eats too much it can cause seizures and possibly death. So try to get your kitty to switch to carob instead.

As far as how much a cat has to eat I would say if he is just licking it and not eating big pieces he is ok but definitely don't let it continue.

sorry to say this but no you really shouldnt give it to him,try getting him a special cat nibble or biscuit treat that he might like and try different ones until you find one he adores,also a special tip i can give you is if you want to see your cat in bliss give him herbal tea bags to sniff from a health shop,i dont think there is a certain type but if there is i will send it to you quickly.what u do with these is,u put down one tea bag for your cat to play with in the evening ,he will sniff it and play with it and go crazy and then he will start to relax,he might relax straight away instead of going crazy as it all depends of the personality of the cat but they smell disgusting to us but all cats adore it,he may rip it open and there isnt any harm in this but dont let him eat it cus it could give him an upset stomach :) best of luck

Its actually a mild poison for animals.
If he likes chocolate you can get special pet chocolate for a treat.
Try not to give him anymore normal chocolate though.

It's fine...

Chocolate has a small amount of a substance called "theobromine" in it. Animals process theobromine slowly (compared to human metabolism). Too much of this substance consumed too quickly can cause it to build up. If the level builds high enough, it is toxic.

Your cat is not consuming a quantity remotely close to what it can process - in other words, the levels of theobromine will not build up, and the cat won't get sick.

Even if this is a regular thing, it still won't harm the cat.

Im not to sure, but i do know that to much chocolate can be posonise for cats and dogs, and i know a dog who died from it.
If your cat loves chocolate that much, pet shops do special pet chocolates, try it with those.
Hope this helps lol.
