Biblically, mercy is a here-and-now action, while grace (or Grace) is a one-time event. For example, when Jesus didn't condemn the woman who had been accused of adultery, that was mercy. Grace was when Jesus was not permitted to stay dead, but was resurrected and then ascended to heaven.
In life today, mercy is cutting a small child some slack when the child is tired and a little cranky because mom's gotten carried away shopping. Grace is forgiving your teenager for damaging the car, because she learned a valuable lesson about the responsibility of driving.

Grace and mercy in Islam are perhaps the attribute of Rahmaan (Mercy) and Raheem (Grace). Thus every chapter in the Quran begins with the announcement... In the Name of the Almighty, The Most Merciful, the Most Gracious!!
Mercy is given after the process of justice has been completed, and a person is held accountable through a process of establishment of guilt for the wrong that they have done and are yet given forgiveness and forbearance.
Grace is a constant state of mercy, which can keep you from doing wrong in the first place. Or that is how I relate to it at least. The good many times end up receiving grace, which keeps them from sinning.
I hope this makes sense?

Grace is the reason for and the "currency" of mercy.
One of the best examples of this is when the angel Gabriel appeared to Zacharia, who would be the father of John the Baptist.
Zacharia, like everyone else in the world at that time, except for the Blessed Virgin Mary, lacked sanctifying grace.
When Zacharia expressed his disbelief to Gabriel, he was struck dumb.
Gabriel then appeared to Mary and announced God's plan for her.
Unlike Zacharia, Mary was already highly favored by God, and "full of grace".
When Mary questioned how this could be done, the angel merely explained it to her.
One received chastisement. One received Jesus, who is mercy.
Grace made all the difference.

As Christians we are saved by grace thru faith in Jesus Christ, Eph. chapter 2, I think mercy is John 3:16, For God so love the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that who soever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Thats mercy. They definitely go hand in hand. It is by mercy that he gives us the faith to be saved. The Bible says over and over that his mercy endureth forever, he loves us so much he is continuely having mercy on us by forgiving us of our sins.

I think on my very humble human point of view that mercy is the God's grace that we don't deserve.

example: someone sinned and is sorry, but hes afraid he will do it again-he goes to Jesus pours out his heart-Jesus responds with love and mercy, he forgives us, he gives us the grace to not sin again, and also to think of his suffering on the cross and his scourging his crowning with thorns , the fists hitting his face, etc. Jesus gives us these graces of loving him for his own sake so that we dont sin again.
