Not looking for expresso or anything fancy, just a good, solid four cup coffee maker that makes it hot, and finishes the brew. I'm not trying to save a dime and would rather find one that lasts than one that needs to be replaced yearly.

hmm if you like drip coffee maker they all have same quality, but if you are after the flavor of the coffee you should try the simplest espresso maker that can make 4 cups,

Mr Coffee has some very good models. I think it depends on what style you prefer. After you buy it, maintaining and cleaning it is very important to make it last.
