Well, Im currently lying propped up in bed with my laptop on a slide tray like the ones they use in hospitals and stuff. Im covered up with a heavy blanket, but Im still chilly even though the heater is on 80. And yes, I know moving is very stressful. I dont really want to go to the ER because hospitals scare me. I tried taking some DayQuil but it didnt help at all and Im almost certain it says something about fever reducing. What else can I do?

Moving? You know that is like in the top five most stressful things you can do? Step one: relax as much as you can. Step two: if you can find them, take a fever reducer pain killer: tylenol, advil, motrin, one of those. The muscle relaxant will help too. Strep throat is the worst pain you can imagine to the point where you'll do anything to avoid swallowing. If the fever reducers take the pain away it's probably not strep. For now, assume you have a fever, drink plenty of fluids, take a rest from packing boxes, relax with soft comfy pillow and be nice to yourself. If you wake up feeling lousy consider seeing a doctor or going to the ER for a throat swab. Take a good book ;it'll take a while. And be sure to tell them you're in the process of moving!

Just be very careful with this kind of high-tech thermometer. They can be so inaccurate to be fatal. You will need a normal thermometer to measure your high-tech one to see how accurate it is, then take note of the difference (up or down). Later you can use your high-tech thermometer but remember to adjust the reading appropriately. If the inaccuracy is over 1 celcius, you must return the product and ask for a new one. In celcius the normal reading is between 36.6 to 37C. The danger level is 39C and higher. Over 38C you must get some treatment. Some times the temperature is just a quick spike such as when the child is wearing too warm clothes or right after having a physical exercise, running, riding, ... If the child is happy and bright, there is no cause for worry.

Go to get your strep test in the morning.
Tonight - just take what you normally would when you do have a fever and get some rest.
Soon your computer will be packed and you won't be able to read these answers! Moving is always so stressful.
Added- Info to your comments- You have to get a the test because strep throat is dangerous without treatment!

you cant tell with your hand if your head is hot with fever because your whole body rises. I had strep throat when I was about 15 and just layed in bed could barely walk for 3 days I layed in bed ...nobody would help me and I was too weak. I remember taking a leak and walking over to a balcony it seemed like a dream...for I was almost over the edge and caught myself. it took forever to walk back to my bed.
next day the fever broke and I got alot better ..it was over. but still mad at my mother for not feeding me. I just wanted some chicken soup.

A fever that is dangerously high would prevent you from using your computer or posing rational questions.
You probably do have a slight fever with the symptoms you describe.
Drink lots of fluids, have a shower to freshen up, then get dry and go to bed!

You most liekly have a fever, but since you are able to sit at your computer and post questions, I'd say it's probably nothing to worry about. Consult a doctor if it becomes worse. Keep your fluid levels up, drink plenty of orange juice for Vitamin C.. and get plenty of rest.
