Here is what I think: I have been raised as an orthodox jew and have been essentially secluded from the outside world. That is exactly why I am 19 right now and I am still a virgin. I am pretty much apathetic to religion right now, and if anything, I am more of an atheist than a theist. The problem is that I am suffering right now to change the way I was raised. I believed that I was fed propaganda which I never chose to be a part of.

So my proposal, my stance, my question is the following: Do you agree with me that children should be raised in a very neutral and objective manner and when they grow up they can choose their own path? What's the point of feeding them information which they can't validate or discredit? It's really not doing them a favor, and if anything, it might harm them.

All thoughts on this are welcome.

Religious "education" is a form of child abuse and should be banned until a person is 18.
Have you seen those poor children in muslim madrassas rocking backwards and forwards as they learn the koran ,chanting it over and over again. It's just repulsive.

It follows the same reasoning as anything else you would teach a child. If you teach the child something true, you do him a favor. If you teach the child something false, you do him a disservice.

In light of that, if there is a true religion, is it good to hide that from the child? If so, why?

Clearly all religions cannot be true (and some would argue that none are, also a valid argument) anymore than the grass can be green or pink depending on your perspective. Things either are true or they are not true. If there is a true religion, why would you hide it from a child? Does that help the child?

I discuss many different religions with my children ( since everyone in the family claims a different one )......I believe that they should make their own choice about faith/ religion.....but I also believe they cannot do this if they have had NO exposure. How can somebody " choose a path " if they have no idea what lies down that path ? Better to explore the various paths now......so they will have an idea of which one they might like to explore further later on.

I don't believe children should be raised with any particular religion. I never was and I'm just as good as anyone else. I believe a child should be able to choose what religion they want to be....if any at all. I still have no religious denomination.....I believe what I want to believe. Religion doesn't make one person better than another. Even some criminals are religious and where did it get them?

No, I think they should be taught the facts of all religions, and taught that they cannot attempt to impose it on others, or harass others about it, not indoctrinated in any it in any way, and then given the right to choose when they're adults.

They also need to be taught that you cannot have a "relationship" with a mythical religious figure. To have a relationship with someone, you must be able to be in each others physical presence.

I believe that children should be exposed to as many different belief systems as possible to get perspective and a chance to make up their own minds in an unbiased way

ageed ... at the most they should be taught spirituality, tolerance, humanity..

... or they should be objectively taught about the beliefs of all religions so they can choose which, if any, religion or religion(s) is right for them...
