Um, no!
Nascar has been working on one! But..............if they did use it you would have to sit there and wait on gas anyways. They have been talking about getting the fuel pumps like the IRL has, but there would have to be too many changes to the car and fuel cell.

Ok, with me being a huge nascar fan i had to answer this. Pit stops are what makes or breaks your race. Let's say if you used a device to tighten all five of the lugnuts at the same time. wow that went from a 14sec pitstop to a 8 sec pitstop.. ok think about your question. im sure teams would go with the 8 sec pitstop if there were such a thing in nascar. But really now it equals out, by the time the tires are changed the fuel is just getting done.

This is response to Carters answer....if they like u said it would take a lot longer on a pit stop. Next time you see a pit stop done, watch the tire changer and see the way they do the lug nuts. They go around in a circle, so know before you answer.

I don't think it is mechanically possible to have such a piece of equipment. It would probably be easier to use a single hub spin-off, as is used in the open wheels, than to invent something so complicated.
In spite of technical advances in auto racing equipment, NASCAR likes to keep as old school as possible. That is why you don't see pneumatic jacks attatched to the car, or spin off hubs. Five lug nuts per wheel is part of the competition.

as a racer and nascar buff the answer is NO i repeat NO
cause you cant tighten the lug nut all at the same time they have to be tightened in a criss cross pattern .
they run rotors back and front and if you dont do the pattern there is a high chance of warping the rotors.

No, because there Isn't a device that does that.
I've thought about it but it would be too complicated and clumbsy plus you would need a bigger gun to tighten all of them to the right torque at the same time.
Not to mention the universal joints in the device would eat up the gun's output from flexing and would break with a bigger gun anyway.
Plus, how would you get all five lug's to line up with all five socket's at the same time.......

I am sure there is a rule that the Front/Rear Tire Changer is restricted to using a single lug gun. If they were allowed to use something different, there would be teams trying.

to me it doesn't sound possible, sounds like it would be to big of a device, and it would slow them down.. what they are doing now makes for great pit competition during the races ,to see who wins the race off pit road..

Yes. But if they use it, they have to loosen the old lug nuts with a small pair of pliers. So it's not worth it.
Yes, I'm joking.
