Why fuss about what to eat, what causes cancer, when it's not what goes in, but out the mouth which defiles

Question

The news is full of this causes cancer and that causes cancer; about smoking and drinking, etc. What about what we say? It either justifies us or condemns us: Matthew 12:37.

Not to mention Matthew 15:11's HEAR and UNDERSTAND: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Does smoking cause cancer, or
does believing it cause cancer?

Eg: I smoke, and went to doctor,
to get help with flu, so I could smoke.
Doctor got mad at me, cause I smoke.
He made me take x-rays, were clean.
Then he got furious, called me a Liar.
He refused to help me, kicked me out.
I said Doc, it's not what goes in mouth,
but what comes out that defiles a man.
Doc died of lung cancer 3 months later,
and he never smoked, but did law(lie).

Hi...I hear ya....my uncle died several years ago to lung cancer and never smoked a day in his life and so did my other uncle. No relation but by marriage so it wasn't hereditary. Doctors state all the time that 'smoking' causes cancer but what's funny and ironic researchers everyday find that something always causes a cancer whether it's cigarettes, pollution in the air, a certain food or drink. I look at it this way...we are all going to die of something..whether it's old age or a disease or illness. It's a fact that we will die. It's the cycle of life. One cannot defeat death. So with this in mind if we enjoy smoking or drinking to where it doesn't harm anyone else such as in our own homes then why not enjoy it. We are going to die of something anyway. And I agree with your views. Have a great day!

The Bible says our bodies are temples, we shouldn't put anything in them or on them that hurts the temple. If you are saved then you can pray and God will show if what you are doing is harming you, you will know it. What causes cancer is some willnot in others. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me to stop using smokeless tobacco, so I stopped, it was tough but that was what God wanted be to do because I had noticed for a while that I had swelling in my throat area, I stopped, swelling gone. When we are obedient, the Lord takes care of us, its that simple. I like the verses you use, what comes from the heart definitely tells our audience who we are and what we are about, it was not a sin to eat without washing your hands, the jewish tradition had made it one, but not God. However we know that when ever possible we should. Our mouths surely do get us into trouble don't they. Thats like the drinking, to much will get you into trouble, now I don't think Jesus wanted you to drink till you get into trouble, because usually by then you are sinning and that doesn't bring glory to God. Let everything that breathes Praise the Lord!!!!

There are hormones, pesticides and other carcinogens in some foods. These are known to cause cancer of the body.

There are evil things that enter into the heart and mind of man, that can cause eternal death.

Two different things, but we should be on guard with both.

I think you should do everything you can to look after the physical body that God gave you. That means following the teachings of modern society.
