Instant Oatmeal takes 1:30 in the microwave. That is for two packets. Two packets of instant oatmeal should tide you over until you can have a mid mourning snack.
especially during the colder months, the warm oatmeal is great. It comes in different flavors too. I used to set it in the microwave the night before so all I had to do was hit 1-3-0 start but it only saves like 30 seconds.

Here's what works for me. I can put this together in a matter of very few minutes. Take two partial handfuls of old fashioned oats and throw it in a microwaveable bowl. A larger bowl is less prone to boilover) Add a little more milk than just enough to float the oatmeal around (experiment with this). Throw in a couple teaspoons of brown sugar. Splenda can be used for brown sugar, but the sugar seems to give a better final texture. Add a pinch of salt (makes a big difference). Put the bowl in the microwave and microwave on high for somewhere between 2 min 30 sec. and 4 min. Stir a couple or three times. Stirring when closer to done makes it creamier. This would get boring every day, so here's what I do for variety:

Before cooking: Use a touch of cinnamon, use honey in place of brown sugar, add some chopped prunes (its better than it sounds), add some raisins or other dried fruit.

After cooking: Add some pecans, almonds, sliced bananas. You can get a good price on pecans and almonds at Sam's Club.

When the cooked oatmeal reaches the desired consistency, put some plastic wrap over the top of the bowl of oatmeal and take it with you. You can eat it while driving, on the subway/train/bus, or when you get to class if they will let you. If you developed a good, stiff textured oatmeal, it won't fall off the spoon easily. The combination of carbohydrates, fiber, protein, milk/calcium, and various fruit and nuts should hold you all through the morning with very little time investment on your part. This is also good cold, so if you nibble on it through the morning it will serve you well.

Take a small bag of trail mix or a granola bar, along with an individual sized bottle of orange juice. They will provide plenty of energy to get through that early morning lecture.

Or, if you have a coffee mug with a lid, you can take a serving of hot soup -- tomato is particulary good. By the time you get to class, the soup will be at a drinkable temperature, and you can sip on it while you listen and take notes.

You can make a bagel with flavored cream cheese, an English muffin with peanut butter and jelly, you can make a trail mix and take it in a baggie, Chewy Granola Bars, Poptarts... all in the right amounts to keep you filled up and satisfied until lunch time rolls around!

What school starts at 7:15?? Anyway, instant grits are good. Put the pot of water on while you get ready, stir into the grits, scarf it down, and grab a granola bar and a bottle of water.

That's what I did in college.
