I honestly don't have any conception of what's old and what's young insofar as souls go. I know it [old soul] is a term that gets a lot of usage out 'there', but I suspect even the young ones are so old we can't begin to fathom it.
I do know I've been through a couple of hundred lifetimes just trying to get a few fairly fundamental issues resolved, and that those issues aren't something I'd associate with anything old.
The matter's further confused [I believe] by the currency the term's gotten among the metaphysical types during the past couple of decades, and the almost universal pronouncements by those who use the term, that they're old souls.
I honestly don't know the answer.
Wish I could help more, but more than that, I wish I knew.

consider a car and a driver.
When the car breaks down the driver wont stay at rest with it.
He would rather repair what's broken or consume another car and keep driving knowing it will break down again or realize it to be a waste of time and money buying one thus proceeding alone without it.
So is the body and soul.
Once the body perishes the soul will consume another or if it realizes consuming a another is a waste it will linger in the great beyond experiencing bliss in different state.
Thus nature observances prove that there is a cycle of life.
Therefore reincarnation is possible.
Therefore maybe all might have old souls.
Such questions to answer correct is beyond our wisdom.

I've been told by two people (that I recall) that I have an "old soul" and a third recently who said that I was "very wise."
I don't believe in whole-soul reincarnation, but I believe it's possible that the spirit I was given when I was created carries with it the energy of others in the past.

Yeah, since I've got an open mind and often feel like I've been somewhere/met someone before, I think I might be an old soul....you never know!

I think my soul has been around for a long time. Learning from past mistakes and fixing them in the next new body it gets.

yes I do feel I probably have an old soul, it feels like it anyway from the memories that surface during a particular type of meditation.

Reincarnation, isn't that when you have a can of old carnation milk, and you put it in another container? I don't believe in it, you can get sick that way.
