Mormons CAN have crosses in their homes and on their jewelry. It is customary not to, however, because we tend to focus on the resurrection instead othe the death.

Moroni was the last prophet who wrote in the Book of Mormon. He was the one who hid the plates, then showed them to Joseph Smith Jr.

Its because Mormons are smart enough to know that, even though crosses look like they are fun to play with, eventually someone is going to get an eye poked out by one.

Moroni was the angel that Joseph Smith, Jr. said visited him on numerous occasions and led him to the golden plates that had the Book of Mormon written on them.

However, there is also a book of Moroni in the Book of Mormon that was written by a prophet named Moroni.

So, it can get a bit confusing.

Mormons don't worship the crusifixion. They acknowledge that "it did happen" but they focus more on the resurection. It is because of that that they don't have crosses in their homes. Moroni was the angel that "appeared" to Joseph Smith at 14 years old to tell him he'd been chosen by God to start a new "true" religion. He was basically the "guide" to Joseph Smith through the birth of the Mormon religion.

I didn't know that.

Roman Catholic and High Anglican depictions of the cross are often crucifixes, in order to emphasize Jesus' sacrifice.

Many Protestant traditions depict the cross without the corpus, interpreting this form as an indication of belief in the resurrection rather than as representing the interval between the death and the resurrection of Jesus.

It's not that we can't, it's that we just choose not to.

Crucifixion is probably the most inhumane form of torture and death man has ever come up with.

Besides, if Christ had not rose from the dead, and showed Himself to His disciples, then His death would have meant nothing to us, since we would not have known or believed what He did on the cross.

I understand why some Christians put up or wear empty crosses.

As I understand, it isn't done because it's not traditional for them. They simply find its use as a symbol unnecessary, but I don't believe they are actively "anti-cross" as some people are, esp. Jehovah's Witnesses.

huh??.....I didn't know they couldn't. I think it's something like they don't want to focus on Jesus' pain. I think they focus more on how He saved them and don't need a cross to remind them. They choose to remember Jesus in their hearts-- more then a cross. I think thats pretty cool.

We can -- but generally not our way

There is no doctrine against it and no one will be shunned for it.

It's a very strict religion. They can only tick boxes on forms, never cross them.
