Some say that they went out with the Apostles, but historians record signs miracles and wonders into the fourth century AD, and according to Eph 4:11 the Apostles never went out.
Some refer to I Cor 13:8 and say that it has come to pass, that prophecies, and tongues have ceased, but verse 10 says that when they will cease is “when that which is perfect is come.” They then say that this perfection is the canonization of the Bible, but this cannot be either, because verse 12 says that then we will know as we are known, and that we will see Him face to face.
I believe that they were lost only because Christians became luke warm.

We did not "lose" them. Some will use that in Acts that the Holy Spirit was only poured upon those who were touched by the apostles hands. "Laying on of hands" There is actually a great deal of evidence to this claim.
I believe that many of the miracles gifts are "inactive" though still possible because they are not needed. The Bible clearly says that such gifts were to confirm that those administering the gifts were delivers of God's word. Our confirmation now is the Bible.
In conclusion such gifts are no longer needed.

"Forgetfulness" is a degraded state within man.
Man must learn through the school of hard knocks, just what is mans "True Given Birthright"!
Man must learn to always "Remember".
This is the path for a "True Human Being". To always be in a state of "Remembrance".
If this is adhered to, that which was lost, will be remembered!

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are in no way Lost..nor are they from "another time".
They are here, and they are in operation today.
