If you look at the bibles we have today. like the KJV. And you look at the oldest transcripts available,( I m talking centuries ago ) there are so many differences. Some of the stories such as when Jesus saved the women from being stoned were not in any of the original transcripts that were available and this story just showed up in the 12th century. So how can we say that It is truly gods word.. Before the invention of the printing press the only way to get a copy of something was to write. And old manuscripts have shown that many of the copiests have changed what was written from some of the manuscript s that they were copying from. Sometimes it was unintentional and sometimes it was deliberate. Since we no longer have the original manuscripts of any of the gospels and other books in the bible , How can we know what was the original word? since all we have are copies of copies of copies. Which have been proved to have been changed .

Yes I know what languages it was originaly written in. And I have been studying on this for many years now. I just wanted to get a rough idea of what percentage of believers actually know the history of their book. I have talked to many christians and find they know nothing of the council of Nicea and other history related to the bible. The kind of study where you take what documents you have and try to get back to the most original writings there were is called Textual criticism. A good read is the book. " Misquoting Jesus" by Bart Ehrem ( I think Thats the correct name I dont have it in front of me) He was a born again christian who began taking a look at the history of the bible and changed his views in many ways. An interesting read for anyone. Atheist, Christion ,non Christian. As religion has changed western culture so much. For good or for bad is a matter of opinion.

Good question. The bible came from the Jews. It was written in Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek. Copies were found in a cave and are called the Dead Sea Scrolls. These were compared with other modern manuscripts and not much has changed except for a few words of grammar and other minor details. some of these scrolls were written even before Jesus was born indicating that they are extremely old. The bible is now written in other languages. KJV is an old style English version and of course even that language is old and is no longer spoken. So even the KJV is not the literal translation of the bible.

There were extreme and precise techniques and devices to ensure accurate copying. We have found that the manuscripts for the fast majority agree with each other. Manuscripts dating back from the 2nd century are 99% in agreement with more "modern" manuscripts say from the 12th century. As we find more reliable manuscripts we make any neccesarry adjustments. Yet for the most part no changing is required. Like when we found the manuscripts at Quaram there was very little adjustments to be made. We found out that the copying was done accuarte.

Many people claim that the KJV Bible is the most accurate. But this of course is not true. The original versions were not written in English. They were writtten in Hebrew and Greek. The first translations were made in Latin and German. English came much later. We can trust the Bible because, inspite of the time passage and the multiple translations, every once in a while, an archaelogist discovers another scrap of a very old scroll of the Bible, and it is truly amazing how accurate today's versions are to those ancient scraps. For the Bible to remain the same after hundreds and in some cases thousands of years is a miracle in itself. Of course it takes faith to accept it as God's Word. And to accept it by faith you have to read it. In order to really study the accuracy, you have to learn Hebrew, Greek and perhaps Latin. Superficial judgment is nothing more than opinion and speculation.

My Bible came from my nightstand.

Many ancient manuscripts still exist and the text of the bible is pretty reliable. You spent too much time on History and Discovery Channels listening to the wierdo's trying to pick apart what they cannot understand.

I have studied and compared (in an actual college) the books of the old testament and some of the new testament. They survive the translation from aramaic, greek, and hebrew very nicely, by the way.

You're correct that there are many manuscripts and many differences because they were copied by hand. However, the differences between the oldest and newest texts are very minor and never affect any doctrinal issues.

There is more textual resource material for the Bible than for any other book of its era. By comparing the existing manuscripts we can eliminate many of the mistakes.

You should read up on this topic. It's not as dire as you make it out to be.

It came from men 'inspired' by god. Even the most pious at the Vatican admit there are several inaccuracies whilst not actually saying what they are. Of course that only applies to catholics - religion has been used as a tool/weapon to mold and shape societies for years into subservient hierarchies.

Whether you're just now questioning this or you're charging the believers to thoroughly question their blind faith in what is obviously an embellished compilation of short stories, good for you for asking this question.

But hey, the slaves who adapted the Sumerian epic of Gilgamesh to forge what is now the basic frame for the first part of the bible had a pretty swafty thing going on too. I bet they never had a clue as to the dramatic impact it would take in the lives of the people on this planet this far down the road.

It came from a highly advanced computer not of this world! The first 5 books of the bible is a code. When deciphered the code reveals every major event of the future. It was specifically made for Illuminated ones.

There is more about the Old testament I will not mention at this time.

do you read Hebrew?
if your not perfect in old Hebrew then perhaps it isn't for you to say what stories are and are not written.

the first bible was written in Hebrew (not modern Hebrew).
King James was the first to have it written by a few people who could debate the translation to make it the most accurate translation possible. which is why most Christians will read the KJV appose to any other translation.

The Story of Marry Magdalene did NOT only show up in 21st century. Sweety don't read the Internet for biblical accuracy.

Well, you are looking at common translation facts.

For example, wasn't orignal bible in hebrew or something? then it went to latin, to roman, to english, to american.... i'm sure i am missing several steps but non the less, it is mutiple translations.

Problem with translation is the fact that it can NOT be done word for word. Some word does not exist in another language. Best thing we can do is pick a closest word or simply use the original word and on the bottom write a translation foot note.

For example, Japanese langue prefix, san, chan, kun, sama.
or korean's honorifics.

Another problem is the fact that language changes over the years. That is why scientists uses latin to come up with names. For latin is a now dead language and it no longer changes. So we are not really sure what the word really meant back in the days.

Not to mention, majority of people did not know how to read back then. So it only takes one corrupted man to ruin the scrip. Which usually meant roman cathric priests, when churches used to rule the state instead of kings. Not to mention copies are drawn by, not writen, but drawn by scribes. and copying by hand, those bibles only went to selected few important people.

And everyone knew those priests cared more for power then actual word of god. Why do you think printing press was labeled work of the devil? When bible is mass printed and people began to lean to read and write, it became harder to simply change the text.

Besides, Most of the 10 amendment is human mind based.
Let see, god created the world for man right?

So where does Thou shalt not steal come in? Everything was made by god for a man, so doesn't it already belong to everyone?

Thou shalt not kill, why does that only apply to humans then?
Arent other animals not creation of god?

Thou shalt not steal... to steal something would mean to possess something. Which would also imply that not all man are equal. For world it self is gods creation, made for man. When i take a walk in the woods, those threes belong to everyone, but when i break of a branch and make it into a walking stick... it becomes my property.... yea.. thats more human concept.

Most of not all of 10 commandment were writen by man to control lesser man. It takes anyone with common sense to see that. But, these ideas are accepted by our society because we fear those sins.

We fear that someone might steal our goods, someone might make a move on our spouce, someone might simply kill us while we sleep. It is something writen by man as a form of a leash to bring order into the world.

Only first four could be considered to be word of god anyhow. Besides, why would GOD say do not worship any other god? Thou shall not have other gods before me... does that not imply that there ARE other gods?

Far as we know, god could have given moses list of grocery to attain in the garden.
So, even if they are not from God directly. It is lesson we need to function as society.

p.s. Don't you find it funny how everything is refer to as man? but at same time in english man means woman too? Not to mention the lord is usually refered to as being a guy...

Short answer. Bible came from Hebrew!
Go look at Dead Sea Scrolls
