My mom collects them! That was a really sweet gesture and it will probably be very appreciated.
We do not wear a cross, not because we believe it to be evil or wrong. Quite the contrary! We believe that the greatest part of the "Passion" came on the 3rd day...when the Tomb was empty. But how do you wear an empty tomb??? :)
Generally we would rather display a picture of Jesus Christ in our homes because we believe that He Lives.
Honest...we don't hiss or shrivel up when we see a cross! LOL!

Angels are cool. My mom or grandma gave me an angel figurine for high school graduation holding a gift, and it had small wings. Although we don't display crosses, we do have some Church art that shows Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane AND on the cross, as the Atonement took place in both locales. I even just finished drawing a picture of Jesus Christ on the cross myself for an activity/coloring book about baptism for children, although I also intend to draw one more about the resurrection for the page right after it. By the way, we don't have the angel Moroni on display in that many places, just on top of temples to represent the Restoration of the original Church of Jesus Christ, or on some of the older copies of the Book of Mormon.

My parents are devout LDS and my Mom has angel figurines in her garden, as well as a spare bedroom decorated entirely in an angel theme (including angels with wings). Yes, angels are 'allowed' and culturally accepted.
Lilmissykato - Mormon's are not 'banned' from wearing jewelry with crosses or displaying crosses in their homes but it is discouraged by leaders of the church (not as part of church doctorine but more a matter of their religious 'culture'). Mormons believe in eternal life and the cross is viewed more as a symbol of Christ's death. They choose, instead, to celebrate his life and most LDS homes display pictures of Christ depicted throughout different stages of his life.

We can have crosses, although we do not stress the Crucifixion. We focus more on the resurrection. And as to the angels, what is on top of every single one of our temples? The Angel Moroni, blowing a trumpet.
The Church has nothing against either of these things, it is just another misconception people have about our Church.

They can have angel decorations, if they like. As said above they don't believe angels have wings.
They don't believe in wearing a cross, they don't have one in their church, or on the steeple.
When I was a new convert to the church I had a cross neckless that I liked to wear. You would have thought people were going to hiss and shrivel up, when they saw it on me. They had no problem letting me know that "they", the Mormons didn't believe in the cross.
One of the first things I did when I left that place was buy a cross neckless.

Nothing wrong with angel decorations.
Believe it or not, THE CHURCH does not control every tiny aspect of a person's life. One does not have to worry about "Oh, what will THE CHURCH think if I do this?" As long as you aren't putting blatant pornography, or something equally disgusting, no one is going to care.
In fact, some people will have crosses, as long as said cross is not a central aspect of the decorations. It's rare, but it's not offensive. I guess it depends on why and where and all that. but it's not something that someone will say "Oh, you should n't do that you'll get ex'd" or something like that. Probably the worst that will happen is, no one ever comes to visit you!

I don't recall ever being told that we cannot have Angels.. or for that matter.. wear a cross...
I do not feel the need to wear a cross though.. as it is not something that I feel represents Jesus' mission on this world nearly as much as His prayers in the Garden prior to His arrest...
We wear jewelry with CTR on it more often than anything that I can recall.. "Choose The Right"...
But, with all that, I don't think that many Mormons would find a winged Angel objectionable (even though I don't believe that Angels have wings).

We LDS like angel decoration just like many people do.
We prefer not to use the cross as our symbol, simply because we woship the resurrested Christ.
Everyone or Christians has their own expression of their belief, the cross is just not the way we express ours that is all.
Funny how some people think they know us well by so call studies and what they read about us in books. Sound like we the ones who practice it for years and years ( I for 30 years ) are so ignorant about our own LDS belief.

I don't think that the word "allowed" is the correct one to use here. Mormons are "allowed" to wear crosses if they want... most just choose not too.
As far as angels... the Mormon temples usually have depictions of angels, so I think that would be a big yes. And just because a person enjoys a statue or picture of an angel does not mean that they "believe" in actual winged angels. I have a picture of a unicorn in my bathroom. That doesn't mean I believe in them. =)
I think the gift would be both appropriate and appreciated!
