I think it was about a week before I got mine in 2004. Yes they will call you, but for them to leave a message on your answering machine about it - they can only leave a message to tell you to call them back. According to HIPAA and the Privacy Policy ruling, they cannot legally leave a detailed message on your answering machine unless you sign a consent form to allow more information about your condition to be left on your answering machine, especially if you live with other people whom you may not want them to hear the diagnosis before you get your messages. They will probably call you and have you come in and tell you in person. That's what the radiologist did - I was told to come in and that's when he gave me the news that I had breast cancer.
I sure do wish you the best and will be praying for you! If you do have breast cancer, I hope it's small enough to remove. But no matter what needs to be done, whether you have to have chemo or radiation, or both, the best way to overcome the emotional part is with a positive attitude.

I had 2 done.
One was when they were trying to decide what the lump inmy breast was, I had to go back to my Dr for the results, but they were available the next day.
The other was when they found a shadow on a follow-up mammogram after my treatments had finished, and the specialist was taking the biopsy rathjer than a technitian, and was able to set my mind at ease immediately when he found it was a fluid filled sack. This was done at a teaching hospital where he was demonstrating to students (with my approval) and they examined the sample on the spot!
Normally they will not release the biopsy results direct to the patient but only through a Dr after a specialist pathologist has examined the sample taken.

Shouldn't take too long depends on the dr. I had one (and I'm a male!!) and my results were back within the time I was still trying to stop the bleeding (I was bleeding like a stuck pig haha) at the drs office. All of about 30 minutes. My results were it wasn't only cancer but I was knocking on St Peter's door (and I felt pretty good before that lol). I hope yours is negative

It took a week for mine to come in. My breast surgeon who did the biopsy called me and had me come into her office.
My guess is your family doctor will call to tell you the results.

usually your family Dr will get the results. You can call his office, and talk to his nurse, tell her your concerned and want to know your results, if she has them she can tell you, if not request them call you as soon as the results come in. Depending on where they sent the biopsy it could be several days but the nurse will be able to let you know how long they usually take.
try not to stress too much in the mean time, usually its not as bad as we let ourselves believe

Perhaps next week. But, they aren't going to call you. You need to go back to the doctor who ordered. it. Or, to the doctor who did the biopsy.
