My kitten's baby teeth are coming in. She has been really depressed and sleepy for 3 days now. She wont eat or drink anything. I have been force feeding her by hand and also giving her Nutrical. At 3:30 in the morning she woke up and was just fine, was her usual self and went and ate and everything by herself. She was fine all day up until about 3 hours ago. Now she is acting like she is in pain again. Does this mean the teeth are now coming in where the others just fell out. I have two other cats and neither of them acted this way when their teeth were coming in; I never even noticed. Should I take her to the vet or should I continue to do what I have been doing and maybe it will be better in a day or two? Could I maybe put baby oragel on her gums? Is this normal for her to be in so much pain? Could it maybe be something other than her teeth? Thanks.

She is not really that young. She is like 4 months or so.

Yeah but my other cats never showed ANY signs that their teeth were coming in. For this cat it seems REALLY bad. Her little body is limp and she just seems like she is in so much pain. But just a couple of hours ago she was fine again. Im just confused.

Is she vaccinated? There is a form of feline calicivirus called "limping syndrome." I had never heard of it,and then three years ago,I took in two stray kittens. Before I could get them vaccinated, they both came down with very high fevers, they wouldn't eat,and they would limp, only the lameness would shift from one leg to another. It was the strangest thing! I took them to the vet,and she put them on antibiotics, because she really wasn't sure what they had ( she checked them for leukemia and AIDS - negative ) Well, the very next day, they were fine! I was curious and did some research, and found an article about "limping syndrome.",and I knew that that was what they had! Also,I did have kittens many years ago, brothers, who had a terrible time when their adult teeth started to come in.They got sore lips and gums, and drooled, and would hardly eat,so I had to feed them watered -down baby food for a week, until the teeth were in,So,I would just watch the kitten for a few days.Keep feeding her and make sure to get some water into her.If she shows no improvement in 24 - 48 hours, then I would call a vet.

I would take her to the vet—especially where she's not eating or drinking. There may be something more serious going on than just her teeth bothering her.
I would not use Oragel (or any other human medications) on her without checking with your vet first. Many things that are ok for people can be toxic/lethal for cats.

It could be caused by the teeth, but it also could be serveral more serious things. Call your vet or animal clinic (don't give meds without their approval) and tell them just what you have told us. They may want you to bring her in, better to be safe than sorry. Finding out what is wrong will give you peace of mind about your precious little kitty.

I'd say take her to the vet as soon as possible. And DO NOT give baby oragel to your kitten!!! Human meds tend to poison animals, especially young ones.

since she has baby teeth coming out, i think it's because their teeth are so sensitive because they are brand new. In this case of course, maby part of her gum had this thing going that hurts really bad ocassionally. So see a vet and ask what's wrong with her

If the cats teeth are falling out so early it probably lacking a calcium deficiency, get it some whole milk, and come vitamin c to boost its teeth growth.

Keep up what you're doing. This is a painful period for most pets, but it's no emergency. People go through it too.
