I am contemplating my belief in god and everything I have ever stood for in religion. My first form of questioning was Everything happens for a reason. I seriously question that on. I completely believed in it for so long and then my grandmother dies. We knew she was dying. It was cancer. I was especially close to her. But it was OK because we talked and she said she would show me a sign if she could. I have yet to hear from her. It has been 3 years. NO MAGIC! Now I am questioning everything and I'm 39 years old! What the hell? Can someone tell me if this is right?

Hello, Tabby:

Thank God you didn't get a sign. That would be a Satanic deception. Why? Because the dead in Christ are in their graves awaiting the resurrection of the righteous, like Lazarus was after four days.

God is real, and you can see your grandmother again, but you'll have to wait. Jesus says it this way:

John5:28 "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."

That is pretty simple, isn't it. There are two pages I'd like you to read. One explains what Satan says about how he has fooled millions into believing his demons are really the dead. See: www.revelado.org/cult.htm

To build your faith in Jesus and His plan to redeem this fallen planet, break the Bible code that explains it at the "end of the days." See: http://abiblecode.tripod.com

If you have any more questions, please e-mail me.

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

Wrap your mind around this. We see darkly. You see, we can't fathom the big picture.

To us, there is a loss. But is it a loss for the one that died? Are they in a place where they now know all things and can see what a small thing life was?

We can't possibly imagine, what the whole scene looks like to God. It's very possible, that if you were to stand next to Him and look down upon this world and all of life, you might have a deeper understanding and see that those things that break our hearts, bring sorrow only because we cannot see. It's the unknown that hurts.

If you knew exactly where your loved one is today, you just might be jealous and begging for your turn. What is outside this world that we see? We barely have any information at all. There's a good reason for that. If you had all knowledge, it's most likely you wouldn't stay here. Poof.....you'd be gone like a shot.

There is so much that we don't know. Far more than we do know.

What we do have, for the here and now, is the faith that God knows and has everything in control. Even if it hurts.

First, its never wrong to question.

Second, she said she would show you a sign if she could. Perhaps, the "no magic" is because she is not able.

Third, perhaps God wants you to live by faith and not by sight.

Fourth, I am a rational and thinking Christian. I am always patient and listen to the best of my ability. If you would like to talk through some of these questions/problems feel free to email me. We have all had doubts at times.

Fifth, I am sorry for your loss. Losing someone close to you is very difficult. Never forget the cross. The cross demonstrates that God loves us and that can't change no matter what happens around us.

Sixth, I am a Christian and I am not sure if I fully adhere to "everything happens for a reason". Yes things happen for a reason but for a divine higher reason I do not think so. Something just happen because that is the way the world was designed.

I know that you are going through some trials and for that I am greatly sorry. I have had many trials in my life that have tested me faith from the beginning and I have often wondered if there really is a God and does everything happen for a reason. Some things have happened to me that make most people suicidal and yet for some odd reason, God has made me strong enough to over come that weakness. All that I can say is have faith, read your bible, and slowly you will see that things will come together. And when you read your bible, read a little at a time and think about what it really means. It doesn't do you any good if you can go around and claim to have read the whole bible and yet you still don't know whats in it. So comprehend it and remember, the disciples were ordinary people. When Jesus said something, they didn't just stand there and say, "Ok Jesus. Sounds good to me!" They questioned it and thought about it. One other thing. God loves you and he wants you to come to his kingdom. It hurts him when your faith is little. So stay strong, keep your faith, read your bible, and I will pray for you.

(PS: God isn't magic. He answers in yes, no, and wait.)

If you really a true believer, a sign from your loveone will not be important. As you know, God is a mystery and everything happens because of a reason. There maybe a reason on why she had not given any sign, but is it possible that it is to test your faith? Is is that just because of the sign you will believe in God and if there is no sign then you will have no reason to believe him. If you read the bible, its like you are testing him to give you sign before you believe he exist. Almost everyone even priests sometimes questions Gods existence. but what is important is your relationship to him and other people. Do you believe in Love? then prove it, it is untouchable, we cannot see it but we know it exist, so there is your answer. I know your probably very close to your grandmother and you both love each other very much, but losing her is not a reason for not believing, she is there watching you. And dont worry, i too question Gods existence sometimes.

You'e going through a phase. Midlife is a time when it is perfectly natural to revisit and update old beliefs. You can still have God but maybe you have outgrown magic. Or maybe you need a new understanding of what constitutes magic. A lot of people have gone through a midlife crisis of faith and come out on the other side better for the experience. Find some of those people and listen to their stories.

She can't "show you a sign" because she isn't conscious. She misunderstood death just like so many people do. She is sleeping in her grave awaiting the resurrection when Jesus returns. Enjoy the memories you have of her.....that's the magic. And look forward to seeing her again someday. Get a Bible with a good concordance.....look up "death". You will see that all consciousness ceases when the breath goes back to God, and the body returns to dust. It is the exact reverse of creation (see Genesis) when God formed man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. Death is just the reverse. A good illustration: Just the same way as nails and lumber make a box when you put them together in the right way, so when you take the nails out of the lumber, you once more no longer have a box.....just nails and lumber.

Your belief in God must come from his love letter to you, the Bible, not in a sign from your deceased Grandmother. I sympathize with you in your loss.....and so does God. Go to him for comfort and he will not fail you.

Of course it's right to question everything. If humans didn't do that we'd still believe that "demons" cause diseases and crop failures, among other things.

You'll never hear from those who died because, the fact is, when one's brain dies one ceases to exist.

My mother and I promised each other that whoever died first would contact the other, if such a thing were possible. It's been forty-one years. I could fool myself and see "signs" in everyday things, but the truth is always preferable to a lie.

Hi Tabby, Doubts are a part of everyone who is in a quest of faith, theres noting strange about having doubts. I think we shouldnt expect to receive any sign to have faith, I mean a supernatural sign, I think we get signs every moment of our lives but you have to be open to them.

As I answered some other question I think that God made his perfect creation, his perfect laws of nature and I dont think he will be breaking these rules and interrupting our lives in a way that is out of the natural laws. I think we must learn to realize that God is everywhere and at the same time nowhere. It is indeed hard to try to accomplish that, and some people would ask: how can we know he exists? why is it so complicated? and I tell you I dont know the answer to such questions but Im sure that it is like this for good. Because you know that when you work hard for something you learn to appreciate it better and I think it is the same with our search to find God, if it were to easy we probably wouldnt value Him, Her.

Good Luck and I wish the best for you in this stage of your life.

I don't think anyone could possibly tell you if your beliefs are correct or not. But if you're questioning your faith because of something that was a blind-sighted promise in the first place, you may need to reconsider. Maybe your grandmother just "can't". If you become over-analytical about that kind of thing, you'll end up losing your faith completely.
