I'll give you all the complete story so bear with me here. I found a lump in my left breast years ago (atleast 5 or more) & had it examined by my family doctor at the time. She said it was a cyst & just to monitor it to make sure it didn't grow. It never did get larger, actually, I think it may have gotten smaller. Anyways, after I stopped breast feeding my son (over a year & a half ago) I noticed I was still getting some milky white & sometimes clear discharge from that breast...even now. A few months ago I started getting some pain in the area in my breast. Not really bad but more uncomfortable & it goes away. I went to my new doctor (I wasn't happy with my old one's diagnosis) & I ended up getting a mammogram & a breast ultrasound. They called me back for a second mammogram because they said there were some calcifications on the pictures but they were pretty sure they were from the deoderant I was wearing. Today, I got the results & it is a solid mass, not fluid filled and

I will have to get a ultrasound guided core biopsy done. I'm soooo terrified it could be cancer...that is my worst fear. My father passed away of cancer last year & 2 of my aunts currently have breast cancer. Be honest, do you think it's cancer? And what was your experience getting this type of biopsy done. Please pray for me! I can't even sleep cause I'm so worried!

I don't know why my previous doctor didn't follow up on this either. That's why I switched. She probably thought that I'm young so it couldn't be anything serious. If it is, I'm going to go tell her!!!

The calcification is often inconclusive in breast tissue as it can be caused by milk production as well as by cancer, or by your deodorant as suggested. I always try to get mammograms done in the morning so I can apply deodorant afterwards as I have often been told not to wear anny for mammograms.
The discharge could also be related to overactive hormones causing you to still produce some milk.
The fact the lump reduced at some stage makes it unlikely to be cancer.
Breast cancer is rarely painful.
While it is all very scary, your prospects are good that the mass is a benign growth. It is good that you have changed to a Dr that is investigating thouroughly, but I expect to hear that your results come back clear!
Best of luck.

I wouldn't worry at all about the discharge, if you nursed your son it's common to still have discharge for years after you wean.
As for the biopsy, they're really not that bad. Mine was done within a few minutes and was mildly uncomfortable and that's it.
I don't know if you have cancer or not, only the biopsy will be able to tell you that.
But, I've been down that road, I was only 28 with a almost 4 year old and a one year old when I was diagnosed.
IF you're not happy with the results from your family doctor, get yourself to a breast surgeon, it's all they deal with all day long and will be able to provide you with the best possible care and answers.

Yes, it is really scared, but being scared only makes things worst. I had breast cancer almost 4 years ago and I feel I am a survivor,I don't know if you believe in God but he was and is my support. Try to relax I know what you are going through I still get scare but please think positive if you were to have it, there are a lot of treatments and you will have a great chance or survival. Take care. I will pray for you.

relax a little . Breast cancer , even fairly aggressive cancers , that have not spread , are highly treatable. The Doctor would have organised the biopsy at once if there were clear indications of cancer. Good luck, I hope it turns out to be non-cancerous.

The biopsy is a pretty minor procedure. They will send the specimen to the lab for the pathologist to read and go from there. When I had mine done I was terrified but it turned out OK. I don't understand why your previous doctor did not follow up on this. I hope everything turns out OK for you and you will be in my prayers.

I will definately pray for you sweetie and prayer works (even if you're not in the habit or mood) try it...pray yourself to sleep tonight. There is no sense in worrying about something that you can't do anything about, especially at this very moment. So pray, just talk to God and tell him all your fears and ask him to comfort you and to give you peace and strength.
Blessings from your Prayer Warrior!

If it has indeed gotten smaller, then it is not cancer. Cancer doesn't shrink, it grows.
Chances are it's something benign. TRY NOT TO WORRY!
Why didn't your doctor keep an eye on this?
Edit-
If it does turn out to be cancerous, I really hope you do more than just tell her, I hope you SUE SUE SUE!
