Militarily, how do you think the US would react to another terrorist attack from Al - Qaeda? Would we just simply say enough and bring out the nuclear football or simply bring more troops to the middle east? Let me know your opinions about this.

"Naturally the common people don't want war. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Depends on the attack. 9-11 scale would bring the flags back out, and the politicians. We'd go flyswattin' with sledge hammers for a bit, then nada. If a nuclear device were detonated on us or an ally, Tehran and Pyongyang would glow an hour or two later since their collaboration and proliferation would obviously be in the deck.

We are programmed for war.. we would behave the very same way that we did after the 9-11 attacks...

It's foolish to think that an other attack of some sort (large or small) will not take place... "Sucker punches" are easier to deliver than full frontal attacks, and very difficult to protect against...

Sooner or later, an other attack will take place, and succeed... only time will tell when.

Republican reaction: Bomb the heck out of the anyone who claims responsibility and toss a few bombs at those who didn't for good measure. (not nukes)

Democrat reaction: Write harsh letters condemning the attack. Threaten with sanctions. Confers with NATO to see what they think. (If letters and sanctions are harsh enough, the fanatical terrorists in the world will see the errors of their ways, apologize and send flowers)

I would hope we nuked them but we'd have to find Bin Laden first! I think if its on the scale of 911 then every one but the liberals would be up in arms again! But it would probably bring more troops to the middle east a war on three fronts can't be good for our defense but it may be necessary.

I think it depends on two things....

who's in office and method of attack....

if the dems are in...we will wring out hands and wonder what we could do to make it better....we would take it to the U.N....and beg for intervention....but ultimately we would apologize for being...well...the U.S. ...and we would probably continue that until the attacks became common place..or the people rose up...and said...."no more"...

if a republican is in....well depends on the republican....and it depends on the method of attack....

i tend to agree with the person above who thought that if a a nuclear device is used...iran and north korea will glow in the dark...and neither will have to worry about the "great evil" ever again....

If Uncle George is still in office and I HOPE this NEVER HAPPENS EITHER WAY..... but if George is still in office, he'd probably sit and stay reading to little school kids rather then DOING ANYTHING for the same 10 MINUTES that he sat and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING directly after the World Trade Center was hit...

With speed I hope. I believe the US and the UN would consult and we would go after the enemy, along with our allies. I don't believe our first option would be nuclear - but it probably would be military. We have many options. The world would see that no one is safe - the terrorist must be stopped.

Many would think that it would be another Bush conspiracy and have their heads in the sand just like ostriches. In fact, the ostrich should be the symbol of the democratic party.
