I think its quite creative, In fact I laughed when I read this.
Though it is a bit morbid, thats just the way boys are.It seems he is going along with the gang, and it could turn out to be a halloween he and his friends will talk about for years.
Besides, Isn't that what Halloween is all about?? Dressing out into anything you want to be...within what the law allows??? Is it worse than dressing as a psyco killer or monster??
Try not to over-react and let the boy create some fun memories with his crew! Lighten up Mom!

It's just halloween. Part of halloween is pretending to be something. Yeah, it's a little morbid. But, whatever. It's not going to harm him negatively. It's just kids being kids. Something like this is NOT worth fighting over. Honestly, just let him to it.
10 year old boys don't want to be anything "cutsy" or "nice". They want to be tough and boyish.
I hate to say this. But, I'm going to b/c it's true. If you insist that your son be something more "cutesy" he may get teased. He's at an age where you do have to let him "go with the crowd" just a little bit. If you don't, he WILL be teased. I'm not saying to let him run wild and completely follow the pack. But, do let him engage in harmless things like this. It's just part of growing up.

Sorry, there aren't any original awnsers to this left. "Morbid and negative", huh. Would you have a problem with Dracula, or Frankenstien? (un)DEAD! What I think is bothering you is the extreme sports connotation. A lot of mothers see skateboarding as negative and dangerous, but don't let your personal bias against a (rather silly but widespread sport) interfere with your child's creativity. So he wants to be dead. Thats TRADITIONALLY ACCEPTED. He also wants a be a skateboarder. Kinda different, but what really bothers you about it? Its not violent. Dracula and Frankenstien are. Let him be what he wants for Halloween. Its just fun and games.

I don't see how it could hurt anyone. He isn't trying to be evil or negative or anything like that. He simply wants to dress up and be "cool" with his friends. I really don't think it could hurt him. My friend went as dead person with a stick through her head (9 years old), and it didn't bother her later in life. She is still a straight A student with no criminal record. I honestly think you should let him go with his friends, he will only be a kid once, and before you know it he will be an adult and you are going to miss things like Halloween.

It is halloween, this is a time for him to dressup and have fun doing it. People dress up as much worse than that. You do realize it is the day of the dead right? Let him enjoy being what he wants. Soon he will be to old to trick or treat or anything.

It is morbid and negative and it's also a very creative idea! This is right up an 10 year old boys ally. Let him go scare some ghouls. :)

Beats the heck out of another Power Ranger, or a Harry Potter character, or any other cookie cutter, out of the box costume. Just think, he may be on his way to becoming one of Hollywood's premiere makeup or effects artists, but you could squelch that.... If you think about it, nearly any costume you can think of can raise some sort of controversy, from flesh-eating zombies (morbid and grotesque) to Shrek (lending to a unreal fantasy outlook). Let him give it a shot, and help him out, he'll appreciate it, and I doubt that it will warp his mind.

My 9 yr old niece was a dead cheerleader last year. She looked more like a zombie in a cheerleader outfit. Its Halloween, they are having fun. That is what kids do.
