There is some group that believes so strongly in equality that they practice touching the feet of inferiors, e.g., a father has to touch the feet of his children. What is the name of this group?

Zenthil, a few months I was in India and two people told me of this sect but I forgot their name. They are quite prominent, hold public meetings where everybody bows down to everybody, and so on.

Prem, the people who told me of them are both devout Hindus. Moreover, at the time I looked this group up on the Internet, and found them. It is just I cannot remember the name now.

Please can people stop telling nonsense about equality in Hinduism? There is no belief system that is less egalitarian on this planet--with the exception perhaps of a few sects like the one I asked about.

Bowing down to someone and performing a namaskar is a kind of gesture we follow in India when we see the elder and the wise.
It is something like the hand shake they do in the west.
Hinduisim is a religion of equality. everyone is treated equal in their own respects. it is only that after the english invasion, there were some troubles and some people mis used and treated others as infirior. But this is never authorized in our religion. and i can assure that it is changing back now.

Sachins answer was good and had the facts. there are many such groups here where a father or a son are treated as an equal.

But i should remind u that it is only in that particular platform where some religious ritual like "Radha Kalyanam" would have been performed.
otherwise, elders dont bow down to the old, except in the case of saints and wise men.

one such groupis the Bagavathas. "They say u are my God and Iam ur God" before doing this.

more then 200 million Hindus are not allowed to enter in any temple.

There is NO Hindu temple in India which CAN say that they won't allow another Hindu into a Hindu temple. The next minute he/she will be arrested and given Rigoruos Imprisonment(R.I.) -I think for six years. The above information given by mamamiya is a Deliberate FRAUD.In Briitish rule, prior to 1937 this Practice was there. In 1937 following Madras State Law followed by other States, this practice has been totally removed in Public Hindu Temples under Hindu Religious Endoment Act (HRE is a Government Department and officers are Government servants) and subsequently by a number of laws even in Private Hindu Temples also.On Muslim Mosques and Christian Churches the State has no control because they are "Minority" religions. For Mosques ,they have a 'Vakf board' ,which is NOT under Government control.Vakf boards and Christian Churches receive a lot of Foreign Donations directly.Hindu Temples can receive foreign donations only through the Respective State Government.By law even a non-Hindu Govenment officer can be appointed as Hindu temple Executive Officer in principle but not for a Mosque or Church(it is why Hindus9Majority) are sore about this discrimnation-it is a Political Minority Vote winning stunt/tactics)

There are thousands of such sects in hinduism and they have strange practices which are acceptable to all their members. Bowing down to another person is generally what everybody does in India. Bowlind down and touching the feet of elders is what all hindus do. With caste consciousness disappearing and spread of education, everybody are counted as equal.

No name for such groups In the religion. They get satisfaction on doing this, some disciplinary act ,that's all.

Yes,bowing is performed commonly among some people, but Being a Hindu I am sure that no separate group exists for such particular thing.

plz accept my greetings.i would try answering your question.
according to Bhagavat Gita a sage or a wise men see's every living being equally as creations of God.Since, a sage knows that in every living being there is a soul and a supersoul the paramatma the God so he sees every being in God and God in every being. He doesn't distinguishes between a man, an animal, a tree,a dog, or of low caste a dog eater.every one is equal to him.And one who loves God treats every living being and his creations equally. So this is equallity in real sense.
thank you. hk
