THE WALL lyrics by Kansas.
I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall
And with each passing day I feel a little
more like something dear was lost
It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between,
All I am, and all that I would ever want be
It's just a travesty, towering, marking
off the boundaries my spirit would erase
To pass beyond is what I seek, I fear that I may be too weak
And those are few who've seen it through to glimpse the other side,
The promised land is waiting like a maiden that is soon to be a bride
The moment is a masterpiece, the weight of indecision's in the air
It's standing there, the symbol and the sum of all that's me
It's just a travesty, towering, blocking out the light and blinding me
I want to see
Gold and diamonds cast a spell, it's not for me I know it well
The treasures that I seek are waiting on the other side
There's more that I can measure in the treasure of the love that I can find
And though it's always been with me, I must tear down the Wall and let it be
All I am, and all that I was ever meant to be, in harmony
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross
THERE IS NO LOSS

"The Wall" that "Kansas" played and was written by "Kerry Livgren", was written in a defining moment, during a transition period within Kerry's life.
A flow from one state of consciousness into a higher state of consciousness.
The wall spoken of in this beautiful song refers to the "Wall of Illusion" that man must pass through to reach "the promised land."
When one has passed through this wall, one then looks back and holds out their hands to those waiting to also cross "The Wall".
Thus, "THERE IS NO LOSS"
Kerry has become, "Dust In The Wind".
Kerry has reached, "The Point Of No Return".

More likely, the mark is to be taken as a symbol. It is that which identifies who belongs to the beast – or to God. There is an Old Testament parallel in Ezekiel on which Revelation draws. John’s readers would have readily understood the point he was making. In vision, Ezekiel saw a man with a writing kit at his side. He heard the Lord say to the man, "Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it" (Ezekiel 9:4). Here are people who are "marked" for protection.

It would be different for all of us. We all have a wall that blocks us form peace, freedom, enlightenment. For me it is fear and anger. Every experience I have in the present, I am confronted with this wall. Each time I am forced to try and brake it down, scale it, go around it... But I think the key point to these lyrics is that if you know you have a wall and you seek to be past it, that nothing is lost. I can only guess that that means all experiences are valid and needed.

Following the footstep of Jesus is a narrow gate. Wall is only a symbol of challenges and difficulties in life. It measures your spirit. Spirit must be a gold tested by time. But we must enter to the narrow gate. Focused to the gate but not on the wall.
Love conquered everything. For in love all existed.

A monk asked Chao-chou, “‘The Ultimate Path has no difficulties—just avoid picking and choosing.’ What is not picking and choosing?”
Chao-chou quoted, “‘In the heavens and on earth I alone am the Honored One.’”
The monk said, “This is still picking and choosing.”
Chao-chou said, “Stupid oaf! Where is the picking and choosing?”
The monk was speechless.
from Zen master Yuan-wu’s commentary on this koan:
Before you have penetrated, it all seems like a silver mountain, like an iron wall. When you have been able to penetrate, from the beginning it was your self that was the silver mountain, the iron wall.

It is just my interpretation but I would say it is the boundary between life and the afterlife. Personally I don't buy all that stuff but I know many do.
Read the lyrics with death (the crossing over) in mind and I think it fits very nicely for anyone with Christian beliefs.

The wall is all that stands between him and truth. He has learned that "all that glitters is not gold." By tearing down the wall he will come home to himself. Although in the third verse, he is battling with himself because it isn't easy to give up our stories. :)

If I were to say the Christians would burn me, even most Buddhist might feel compassion for me but some would understand and many Hindus most surely. So what can I say? Ok, you talked me into it, the one true God is the wall.

I am at this wall.
It rises high, so high, I cannot see above it, nor around
It exists at my bidding ~ yet how can this be???
Freedom is my seeking, my hearts deepest desire, who am I that would build such a wall?
I pace, I weep, I hurl myself against it. To no avail, none at all.
I am trapped, this much is certain.
So, I sit.
And I gaze, and slowly I begin to see .....
to see the bricks...why, they are my thoughts, my beliefs after all...
THIS is surely insanity !!!!
Yet..... that the wall is here, it serves a purpose.......
ah,it serves me.
I placed it, and I can surely then remove it.........
So, I gaze, I see, and I release into this that would exist as block, as knot, as judged
my release is the key.....and I continue to gaze as the bricks simply dissolve, and then there is the path....
