i'm stressing out so much and it's only been four days since school started...and i play basketball for my school and i usually have practice like everyday.

i don't know what to do. the teachers are too fast for my pace, and i really don't want to drop a class...i'm working my butt off and i'm scared to death that my gpa is going to drop...

and to add to that, i don't have many friends at school and usually skip lunch which is pretty sad
please help me. i need advice

should i ask my guidence counselor to change my teachers?
or should i drop a class? (a very disliked choice, i'm prob. gonna feel like a quitter and pretty stupid)
or should i try my best, fail, and continue hs with a low gpa?

eh. advice would be nice.
thanks

You poor girl. Trying so hard to be perfect. Advice you want, advice I've got. To start with, food is important. If you don't eat, you'll feel more stressed, guaranteed. So make sure you eat, even if it's some peanuts, a piece of fruit, and some milk or a yogurt smoothie to drink. Treat your body like a car you love that you want to keep running well. Second, talk to your guidance counselor to see if different teachers pace themselves differently. I hope you have a good g.c., because sometimes they can be less than helpful, but try there first. And never feel like a quitter or stupid because you have to adjust your behavior to reflect reality! 6 courses is a LOT, esp. when they're honors ones. If there's one you don't really need for your requirements, do drop that. Do you really need to take that algebra II class? Why 2 maths? Do you love basketball? If so, keep playing. If you're playing because you think it will look good on your transcript, drop it. But if you love it, it can help relieve stress. 6 honors courses + a sport is too much, and you're smart and proactive to realize that you need to do something now before it spins out of control. I could also recommend some meditation techniques to help with the stress, but you probably feel like you have no time as it is! If you get a chance, look up some info about Thich Nhat Hanh, a Buddhist monk who is a great teacher. He has some wonderful, easy to read, simple & short writings on meditation that will make you feel calmer just to read them. Check them out at your library. There's your advice. One more thing: don't forget to breathe! People do, and it adds to their stress more than you'd believe. Good luck sweetie.

Sorry but that doesn't sound very hard (your classes)...You should try and keep your GPA around 3.5

If by "slipping" you mean go from like, 3.9 to 3.6 then it's not really that big of a deal, it will actually make no difference to colleges, cause all you really need it for is to clear the GPA cutoff

Maybe you just need to find time to do your hw in other classes. Like, if the teacher isn't doing anything, whip out your other class hw. Well, you gotta know your stuff to do that, cause sometimes teachers get pissed about that kind of stuff.

Not many friends...what about basketball friends? Well, you should get down some food for lunch, I don't see how I could ever get through the day/practice w/out some food. maybe bring some food and eat it while working?

You sound like a good person too, but I doubt it'd be the end of the world if you dropped a class

Ooh wait...don't drop spanish, lots of high end colleges REQUIRE 2 years of foeign language, and thats consecutive years, not one french and 1 spanish. Stick it. Drop the geometry, thats SOOO useless.

If it were me making the choice, I would drop one of the math classes or maybe the Spanish class. Unless you are planning a math- related major in college, taking both advanced algebra and geometry seems a bit much. Both fields have different terminologies, and you could end up moving between one or the other to solve problems. Learning Spanish is okay if you plan on working for a business that requires translators/native speakers, but just every day careers don't call for a second language. You could ask for different teachers, but that doesn't mean you'd get new ones who are any easier than the ones you have now.

Is dropping one class going to do it? Yes, see the counselor. You are overloaded.
No, you won't be considered a quitter by anyone except yourself. Hey, be good to you.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED YOGO OR WORKING OUT AT THE GYM. IF THAT CAN'T RELAX YOU OR YOU MAY NEED TO HAVE TO SOMEONE ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS. BUT IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU WANT TO DROP A CLASS, IT WOULDN'T HURT NONE AT ALL. BUT STILL WOULD HURT YOUR GPA.

you will sign in for training. you need to pass talk to the professors for those training to enable you in. yet considering that the next day is the final day, it fairly is beneficial to pass touch them to verify why they dropped you. or you will ought to pay late costs and re-sign in.
