I never have groceries in my house because neither my husband of myself can cook. I end up eating McDonalds in my car everyday because its quick, easy, and cheap. I hate it. The food is gross and it makes me feel sick after I eat it. I want to lose weight. I go to school and I work so eating out is the norm for me. I hate it and want to change. Any tips on quick, easy cooking (some things say quick and easy and they are not and I end up ruining them) taste doesn't really matter too much. I know that people go on diets and eat chicken breasts but I can't even cook those right. It always turns out too dry and I end up making a huge mess. I don't know what to do, but I am TIRED of eating McDonalds. I think that fast food should be banned altogether. It can't be good for anyone and I know other people who do the same thing I do.

I also was just diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. I don't want to cook fatty meals either. Maybe I'll take a cooking class at the community center. Thanks for the advice.

A few years back, I lost 48 pounds by purchasing frozen meals for dinner, such as Lean Cuisines (they were my favorite). It not only limited me on the fat and calories, but portion control as well. The rest of the day I ate high fiber, lowfat food, like apples, whole grain cereal with lowfat milk, light yogurt, etc. Nothing is easier than popping a tray into the microwave for 7 minutes.

Search on line for a place like "Let's Dish." You go in and make like a week's worth of dinners there. They supply the ingredients and walk you through making the dish.
They also sell prepared meals.
There are some things you can do. I can't cook either. You can't really screw up a salad. So make that once in a while.
You can buy a frozen lasagna and garlic bread plus a veggie for a meal. Or if you're ambitious, make the lasagne yourself in smaller bread loaf pans. You can make several and freeze them. the same with meat loaf.
Spaghetti, egg sandwiches, heck we even make english muffin mini pizzas sometime. hamburgers are easy - make a patti and fry or bbq until it's not red inside.
If you don't have a crockpot, get one. There are a ton of easy slow cooker recipes. you just throw all the stuff in and let it go.
There are also bags at the store - like for roasts, pork chops, chicken. They tell you exactly what you need. You lay the bag out in a pan. You mix the seasonings.. Add the roast and cut carrots and potatoes, pour the seasonings over it. You tie up the bag, put a few small holes in the top and put it in the oven at the temp. it says and for the time it says.
There are also precooked chiken breast in the frozen food section. All you have to do is heat them. Get canned veggies. Open the can, out in a pan and heat until hot.
Instant mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese have easy directions to follow. Trust me, if I can do it, you can.

Why don't you try the obvious answer, Learn how to cook! Sounds like you're too lazy...........Ok, get a good pasta cookbook, most of those are easy. Don't be afraid to mess it up when you're first starting. Pick and choose your sauces and experiment once you have the basics down.
At first, follow directions well, after that play with them.............Have you ever had a veggie and cheese at Subway?..Bacon on it?.....BLT's are great!..Get on a BLT kick, they taste great and 50 times better than McDonalds.
If you're addicted to Mac's--Buy two "Hamburgers" (not cheeseburgers).
Throw away the 2 bottom buns and make one burger out of it..Small fries and a water or Diet soda will help..........Yeh, it's not the same as a big Mac but you've got to start somewhere and that is not that bad of a transition.................Switch over to some non-greasy subs, go gradual.
A veggie sub with bacon and cheese would begin you on your way. I really don't like vegetables but that's one way to eat out, get your misguided craving and start you on your way. After a while you'll be able to drop the bad sides of this. This is the beginning stage of really bad food to "not so bad" food, to decent food. Don't try dropping your cravings totally at first. Adjust them!...You won't last long doing it quickly.
Weigh yourself, write it down, keep a diary and plan to lose 1 (ONE) pound a week. That's all!..To hell with the ads on tv.
You sound like a lazy sort of person, so this might work for you. I'm one too and it's one way I stay ahead without really working too hard at it...(I hate working at it).
Just remember that you have to give up a little bit. You don't have to go crazy, just use something you've never used before. Willpower! or in this case a teeny tiny bit of willpower. Not much, just some adapting.
Hey, 3 Taco's is better than Mac's too!
Eat good and satisfy your cravings, just be a little smarter about it. Don't go nuts until you're ready. You'll be ready sometime within the year is my guess.
Hey, the extra sex you'll get will be well worth it! LOL!
Good luck, Carl

The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. If you want anymore details, feel free to email me. ~Adia
