so far i'm just scared of what kind of damage he can do, based on the scar on my right arm. so i kind of just give him a quick wipe down. Any ideas on how to get him in and out of the bath with out getting hurt to bad?

You don't bathe a cat unless you want to get hurt. Especially one with claws still attached.
You get baby wipes, the kind you use to clean a baby's dirty bottom, and wipe kitty's backside before you go to bed. Quickly.
Kitty won't like the way it smells, so, he'll spend a good hour giving himself a top to bottom bath. And he'll still smell good in bed.
Shinkey Gato's Mom
P.S. I do NOT allow Shinkey to sit on my chest with the backside pointed face-ward. I make her turn around or climb farther down. When she was a kitty, she thought to share my pillow. I picked her up and dropped her off the bed. Three times. Now she shares my husband's pillow!

We had problems with my cute little cat Daisy turning into a ferocious mountain lion when we put her into the tub, so I asked the vet about giving her a bath. He said that if a cat reacts that violently to it that it's not a good idea to force one as they can hurt you or themselves. He siad to get some of those kitty wipes from the store. I found some at Wal Mart. The look almost like baby wipes for cats. You can just wipe them off, and they smell really good afterward. (She has a smelly booty too! lol)

Unless ol PT has gotten into a heck of a sticky mess, just let him do it on his own. If he's really dirty just get him to the tub and go at it. He will splash, bite, claw, the works so get in and out quickly.. Keep the door closed so he can't escape. Dry him with a towel and keep him warm till he's dry. No blow dryers! Good luck!
My cats love to show me their rear ends too! Just wipe him with a wipe or a damp cloth ! LOL!

Get a muzzle! I had my cat bite clear through my finger nail once, and no muzzle, no bath after that. It is specially designed for cats, it straps on with velcro and covers their eyes so they are more calm, you buy it at any pet store, youll still get wet, because she will still try to jump out, but they cant go far and cant bit you. you may still endure a few scratches, but nothing like the chaos without the muzzle. Also, run the water with the cat OUT of the room, the noise scares them, and will make her harder to handle. Keep petting her back and talking softly to comfort her as your shampooing, and everything should go fine.

Put on a sweat shirt and don't let him near your face. The kitchen sink works the best. He'll be easier to control then.
BTW they also make this lotion that you can put on him and then wipe it off. It works just the same.

Cats bathe themselves. I wouldn't risk it. If he smells, try buying pet cologne. I think you can buy it at any petstore.

Well, you don't. Your cat will "bath himself". If you don't know cats HATE water...maybe you should think about another kind of pet...
