it seems like there's alot of defensive tone and hostility undertone in people's answers/comments. so when anyone asks a general question about your religion, your first reaction is to think that the questions are done out of mockery?! that says alot about your priorities in what you (suppose to) believe in. you're more focused on your self-esteem and insecurities, basically your "self" than your faith/religion. when did god need you to be his lawyer. the tensions are between human beings, not you & god versus the world. and to put yourself in that tension is not very christian-like for your soul or the people you're bickering with. where's the love?

@ mary, there's a difference between questioning you/what you do and questioning god. i think alot of people feel like it's up to them to defend for god, when they don't realize they're only acting out of their own insecurities, has nothing to do with god.
who are we/you/i to say or act that god needs us to defend for him/her/it?! is god defenseless that we're here to the rescue?!
i think the problem lies in the people misunderstanding and projecting themselves onto god, or god forbid, into gods' image.

Everyone gets a little defensive when they're talking about religion. None of the Christians I know take criticism very well, but just let them be. They'll get over it eventually.

Well, when you say/ask something that questions our faith of course we'll get defensive. You're questioning our way of life. Whether or not you mean your questions out of mockery, if we feel that it is demeaning our religion in any way of course we're going to put up our defenses. And you also have to understand if you're asking questions on here, we don't know what tone you're asking it in so most people will just assume(I'm taking it that so far most have assumed opposite of what you mean).

I try to just honestly answer questions about God, Christianity, and Catholicism.
It is rather hard not to sound a bit defensive when one is answering a question that is insulting to, offensive to, or literally attacking everyone and everything you love and believe.
We try, but it is hard to always respond in love to the hate that is thrown at us.
We are only human after all.
With love in Christ.

Feel the (♥Love♥). Unfortunately the more vocal minority...
I don't understand it. I guess that's why some people believe you shouldn't discuss religion or politics in public. I can't really hang out in the catagory. It makes me too sad. Consider the source.
Take care.

I AM NOT BEING DEFENSIVE!!!!
lol, jk. :) People get defensive because they feel like people are putting them on the defense. Most of the time, honest questions get good answers all around. But hateful questions (or those that are perceived as hateful) tend to get hateful answers.

I'm a Christian , meaning that I am in love with my Savior and when someone blasphemes His Holy Name on here, then I get upset. I think that is pretty normal and not hard to understand .

Wait. Are you actually saying that in a text based medium you are applying tone? Are you stupid?
And to clarify my tone was simply asking what I asked.

Try being on the receiving end of the same stupid, misguided, hate-filled claims over, and over, and over, and over, and over again, day in and day out. . . .
After a while, you will understand.
