WASHINGTON (AFP) - Israel carried out an air strike well inside Syria last week, apparently to send Damascus a message not to rearm Hezbollah in Lebanon, a US defense official said Tuesday."It wasn't big. It was a quick strike. They were engaged by the Syrians, they dropped their ordenance and scooted out of there," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The official did not know the target of the strike, which was conducted Thursday, but said the US military believed it was to send a message to the Syrians."The Israelis are trying to tell the Syrians: 'Don't support a resurgence of Hezbollah in Lebanon.'"
Syria said its air defences had opened fire on Israeli warplanes flying over the northeast of the country in the early hours of Thursday and warned it was weighing its response to the Israeli "aggression."
But Israeli officials have made no comment on the allegations, as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert "specifically instructed ministers not to talk about the incident

Israel goes into someone else's air space and drops bombs

Syria the nation who's air space was invaded - opens fire apparently they missed -

But if Syria had successfully shot down the Israeli jets

Who's fault would that have been and how would you react to the explaination given by Israel if it was your nations air space that had been flown over ?

RP McMurphy Lives!

So are you saying Israel can do anything at any time ? As long as she says it is in defense of herself ?

It seems to be the position of America as well but ----

Is that a wise position ?

There has been no documentry or photograpic evidence presented by Syria that:

A. Israeli Aircraft were over Syrian territory.

B. That any Israeli munitions were in fact dropped, no pictures of bomb or missile damage.

Maybe they were using "Stealth" bombs.

In fact your whole rant appears to be made up and certainly is not worded as a normal newspaper communique.

So as an anti-Israel rant it is a total failure.

It would have been the Israeli pilot's fault. The Syrian military couldn't hit the side of a barn with a shotgun at point blank range. The Israeli pilot would have to badly screw up to get hit by them.

Israel is as dirty as the US, if not more so. All their power comes from us backing and arming them, to have a "disciple" in the mid-east
