everytime i get sick. (about this time of year and lasts for weeks its always a sore throat and headaches and really really tired) i get swollen glands on my chin. i was told that this is just a sign of my body fighting off an infection. well i was sick all last week and was better for a few days but am feeling bad again. and i have had 1swollen gland for about 2weeks. what is wrong?

i havent gone to the dr yet b/c i am not sick sick i just feel really bad. last yr my dr said that it was just viral and i would just have to wait it out (i was also tested for mono last yr but i didnt have it). same with the year before (that yr i felt like i was dying literally i was so sick) and my mom thinks it is my bad allergies.

what is wrong?? i dont want to get really sick like previous yrs. thanks.

and i have to go to school tomorrow... i have a big test. how can i get through the day and actually do well on the test. (i have it last period... ugh!)

oh hun im going through the same thing. my throat is killin me!! I missed today, and im in the same boat as you i have major exams tomorw >.< The only advice i could say is to take some medicine before you leave, bring cough drops with you, and just take it easy. Drink some orange juice in the morning. And also i would take another visit to the doctor.

You could have Strept Throat, which one of the symptoms is swollen glands. I wouldn't take any chances. I would go the doctor right away.

It's better to have a written note from the doctor excusing you from missing your test, rather than go to school and do really bad because you weren't feeling well.

When you get all better, look into getting the Flu Shot. I got one last year, and never got sick. But you have to be free of any kind of cold or flu before you get it.

It also sounds like your immune system is really weak. Are you eating right, exercising, and getting enough rest? That's very important. Especially the rest.

Good luck.

Have chicken noodle soup... drink lots of fruit juice.. drink tea with honey and lemon..... put the vaporizer on in your room. rub yourself down with some Mentholatum or Vick's vapor rub....
drink lots of water, stay on clear fluids for a couple days, beef broth, chicken broth and stay away from meat and dairy...
take a couple oh Tylenol or ibuprofen, have a hot bath and soak for a while then hop into bed, lights off, no tv, radio... get some badly needed rest.
If you have constant boughts' you should look into taking something to improve your immune system.. get on a good vitamin supplement with minerals, start eating healthy and 3 meals a day, get daily exercise and get your rest... stay away from caffeine, sugar and white flour and red meats.....

It does sound like allergies. A lot of people, including myself, are going through this right now.

Best thing to do is to put a humidifier in your bedroom. And up your vitamin C.

Good luck@!
