I have the same problem as you and i tend to try and read for about half and hour whilst i am sitting in my bed. It tends to relax me no end. Try not to read something that may stimulate your mind, or keep any thoughts in your head such as a thriller/horror. You may be causing more problems if you do that! If not then you could always try something like "kalms" that calm you before sleep. I have also tried "Valarian hops". It is a vitamin tablets that has a very good calming effect. It tastes disgusting but IT WORKS!
Good luck, i do sympathize.
