There are a lot of Russian / and Nigerians that are scamming people right now. It's a hot business to be in . Please check this site / they have photos of a lot of the Russians/Nigerians/ Names and complaints from people that were victims. Many of them use the photographs of models and other people and pretend to have different names etc. Have you done much checking ? Asked her to send multiple photos ? Share family / childhood pictures ? Have you spoken with anyone else she knows ? Can you verify her employment ? Call the office / see if she works there ? Any information would help you to learn the truth.

I think that she / he can cash in a ticket even if non refundable. Non refundables can sometimes be exchanged for other destinations. Call airline and ask details.
Honestly, I do not trust that this sounds right / and I think that you feel the same / have suspicion. I have learned the hard lesson that it is sometimes best to listen to that little voice . But on the other side of it , it might be worth 1K or whatever the plane fare is to buy the ticket to find out . If you can afford it / it's an expensive answer but might be worth it to get the answer that you need.

It really is a scam. You should go and meet her at least.
I think we have told you this before.
My son was scammed, and he went out with the girl for a few weeks. She was a beautiful Romanian girl he met in Hungary. I met her too, she was so very nice.
My son knew what was going on but didn't really find out all of the details of how far she would go until she tried to hit him up for $2,000 for her moms heart operation. My crazy son almost believed her!Thankfully my husband and I were able to stop him. Those sort of girls are very good at what they do,7 years later and my son still says she was sweet.
She also worked for a "dating" service we found out later, the "madame" felt sorry for my son and told him privatly that his lady love already had a boyfriend in Romania that she was sending money to.Sad that so many men can be suckers. It may be hard for you to believe it but those girls have a hard life and will do and say ANYTHING to get what they want. They know that they will get old and they try to make has much money as they can while they are young enough to cash it in.

Capewide-
With all good intentions, please be careful as to where you are sending money to.
There are actually some reputable agencies that place people with others who live abroad.
Why not use the money to visit her and see if it is meant to be. You can stay in hostels to keep the budget manageable. Please do err on the side of caution though. You may want to travel with a buddy.
If you are in college, you may be able to contact someone from the student body who is from that region and is able to help you in your research. You can also go to the nearest embassy to find out if her visa papers are in order. Have her send you documentation and then bring it to the consulate or embassy to show them and let them guarantee the validity.
Unfortunately, there are alot of individuals who prey upon those with big hearts and openminds.
Again, please be cautious, for the sake of your well being. If it is meant to be, it will happen, if not, there are others who would benefit from your sincerity here in the US.
Good luck.

You are being scammed. Trust me you are being lied to. I have had a person try this on me recently. First off you do not even know who you are being contacted by. This could be any one telling you that they are the person in the picture. They have all of the answers already made up for you. And of course this person is going to be in love with you.
Also it is going to be a very attractive woman who wants to come see you.
But they need money for a plane, to get a visa and to take a train or buss to get to the airport.
Sounds like the exact same thing that was tried on me.

I'm sorry to tell you this but she is TOTALLY scamming you! It's a big industry in Russia. They get you to trust them and then ask for money for plane fair or visas or whatever. Google russian dating scams and you'll get an idea of how broad of scope this scam is. Sorry dude! :(

Hey you, she is a HE and he has no intention of getting on any plane for you. He just wants you to send him money. He has no use for a non-refundable ticket. He wants cash.
It's a scam. You should feel like a putz wasting all this time writing to a guy.

How could you possibly hurt her by footing her bill for a ticket.. regardless if it was a discounted ticket or not.
You should be super careful.... If she really is hurt because of this you need to question her motives and real intentions...
Very Best Regards.....
hold your head high and keep your eyes open!

I know Irina also. I had to drop her when I found out she was not on the up and up with me. It was fun reading those Russian emails though.
