I was setting up Outlook and I couldn't seem to get it working, so I have a few questions:
1. What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP?
2. Is this determined by the email account I have (aol, gmail) or is it something to do with my internet connection?
3.If it relates to my internet connection how do I figure out which one I have?

I am currently on my college's wireless network, and every time I try setting up an account I am told that the server can't be found.

It's VERY unlikely that you have an IMAP account. Just use POP3.

POP = Post Office Protocol

Just like at home, gmail or aol will drop your mail off in a mailbox, and you have to go pick it up (you send Outlook to do that).
