Yes.

They can be Oppressed by demons through Fear and Other Pressures.

They can have problems in the Brain.

They can have Bad Programming in the Soul. The Soul is an Invisible Spiritual Super-Computer that connects the Spiritman with his,her Body.

This is Why GOD Tells us to RENEW our MINDS (Soul) with the Word of GOD.
To Reprogram our Souls with Righteous Thinking.

Sinfull Thinking Patterns in the Soul are like Viruses in Computers.

I would have to say that Christianity (and religious belief in general) IS a mental illness... a form of delusion.

"Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but... more frequently than not... struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God." ~ Martin Luther

There is an INDUSTRY (Christianity) whose BUSINESS it is to create whole generations of adults who are, at once, gullibile, irrational, willfully ignorant, self-deluded, intellectually dishonest, droolingly stupid and hypocritical... and willing to tithe 10% for having their cognitive dissonance held in check through regular doses of holy bullshit.

They do their jobs very well indeed.

Here's the key thing to understand... a 'truism'...

1) religious 'belief'... the internalized certainty that specified myths, superstitions and fairy-tales are congruent with 'reality' CANNOT WITHSTAND the glaring light of 'critical thinking'.

2) over 85% of adult Americans profess religious 'belief'

3) THEREFORE, at least 85% of adult Americans have not applied critical thinking to their religious 'beliefs'... they think these myths, superstitions and fairy-tales are TRUE. They are DELUSIONAL.

The upshoot of this is very serious, when you think about it. Around 85% of adult Americans are delusional... MADE that way INTENTIONALLY. Something that account for 85% of ANYTHING can be said to define what is considered 'normal'. So, on that basis... in the USA... INSANITY is 'normal'... and thus, the inmates are running the asylum... and the inmates have control over the most sophisticated nuclear arsenal in the world. THIS is a cause for grave concern.

"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called Religion." ~ Robert M. Pirsig

Yes. I'm a Christian and I'm bipolar. Although I have a good doctor to help me out and I am on medication it just isn't enough to help me through the weeks. It helps me through the day ( when I am up and about) but I find myself slowly going downward like a sail plane losing the up draft and gliding downward. I feel like I'm going to stop sailing sooner than later and find myself landing hard.
When I am in daily touch with God the Father or my Lord Jesus, and I'm reading the Holy Bible every day it is like the grand touch that keeps me up. If I wasn't married I could probably live by the book alone but without the medications to help control my illness? My wife would leave me, it would be impossible for her to live with me. And I wouldn't blame her.
It is my faith in God and my study of His word that is the root and the trunk of my well being.

I think you are getting christians confused with quakers. Quakers believe that everyone if filled with a holy spirit. But regardless, do you really think that if you pray enough you will become immune to psychological illnesses? John had a psychological illness called schizophrenia.

Of coarse.

Many people who think they are filled with the holy spirit are actually mentally ill (serial killers who say God told them to do it).

Yes. People who claim to be filled with the holy spirit meet the criteria for somatic delusions, which are irrational and unsupportable beliefs regarding foreign things invading your body.
