You have every right to be here, just as atheists have every right to be here. That isn't what I mean.

I'm just asking why you would want to subject yourself to the beating that is dished out here every day.

I'm an atheist, and honestly I sometimes get worked up myself at things I disagree with Christians on.

However, I just find myself cringing at the absolute hatred dished out towards Christians by atheists here. Obviously there are a lot of hard feelings that have added up through the years.

For the most part I just try to stay out of the fray to that level. I just can't believe that so many Christians just keep coming back for more.

I have to tip my hat to you. I admire those of you taking it and coming back.

Bad Liberal,

Okay, you're a martyr. I get it.

I think the same could be said if you turn it around. There is plenty of bashing against Atheists and other believers besides Christians.

It is sad though isn't it. Out of all of the differences that people have, religious beliefs should be the one that is most respected.

I personally do not care what religion someone believes in, I just do not like when anyone from any religion or non-religion feels compelled to shove their beliefs down my throat and insist that their religion is the only one that should be accepted.

I have strong personal religious beliefs, but I have no intention of trying to convert someone that believes differently.

You know, this is an interesting forum. I asked a question or two that I thought were of interest and was called racist (I have a black girlfriend and hispanic grandkids and daughter), a christian - meant to be an insult (which I am certainly not), and an atheist -- also meant to be an insult (which I am not, I am agnostic), among other not very nice things.

But I also got a thoughtful answer from a christian to one question that made me think that all christians on this site are not candidates to be starring on Cavemen this fall. And I got an interesting response from a muslim that was encouraging.

The animosity is the eternal battle between faith and reason. Neither can understand the other. It is rather like how christians and muslims don't communicate very well with each other about things they think are god-given absolutes.

Actually, I think it is fun here.

I get as much a kick out of the hard line- almost everyone's going to hell- fundamentalist as I do the angry athiest and there are plenty of both on here.

I don't take any of it personally.

There are also thoughtful people looking to discuss things in an open manner.

I need not fear any beating on here for two reasons.

1. I know what I believe and that most of what the people who bash us are doing is merely reciting propaganda without research and so do not really know what they are talking about.

2. My relationship with God means that I understand what is happening if I am attacked and that I do not need to fear it for it makes me stronger. The attacks force me to research and expand my knowledge of God and deepen the relationship.

When I add this to the fact that on here I can answer legitimate questions and do some encouraging of those who need it then it is not really that bad.

Jesus was verbally abused as well by those who rejected Him. I come here because first and foremost the Lord is worth any hatred the world wants to dish out. I love Him more than I care what others think. Their hatred, I realize, is not directed at me, but at Jesus who lives inside me. Their words bother me, but not because they hurt me. No, non-believer's don't have that much power. But when I say my prayers at night with my toddler I pray for these avatars and I place them in God's hands, for He will deal with them much better than I can. Lastly, there are atheists on here, like yourself, who do not exhibit such blatant hatred...for you and them is why I remain until the Lord releases me.

I haven't seen that much hate. I mean there are a few for example Charle Checkm aka. Sexiest Atheist, and Phyllis, but I mean for the most part they are just harsh disagreements and I have no real reason to leave.

I don't find the vitriol all that substantive and I just figure these folks are mad about something. Sometimes I learn a thing or two. I also have a lot of friends here, many of whom are atheist.

we do it because of Love. this is not to say Christians are perfect or done miss it from time to time.

anyone particularly Christians that walk in love would not let another person self destruct with out trying to help that individual avert the disaster they are currently on.

regardless of your Faith, political, social believes people stand up for those beliefs

As a Christian my Faith tells me I am to love my neighbor in fact i should prefer my neighbor over myself. I am to Proclaim the Gospel (Good News) that you don't have to be a slave to the world anymore. that our spiritual fines have been paid (we have spiritual clemency) through Jesus Christ.

As a Soldier I trained as many have to go where we must to defend freedom. many of my brothers in arms laid their all on the Altar of Freedom. this was only political and social freedom. I much more is a person's soul worth? so I fight for their spiritual freedom. just like when i was in the service many receive and embrace freedom but there are always those that reject Freedom. they reject the precious blood that freed them from tyranny. never understanding the power of freedom or the price of that freedom.

"Absolute hatred"?! Where have you been looking? You're as bad as they are - "hatred" appears to be synonymous with "not agreeing with their view of things"!

And sarcasm is not a beating. A beating is what Iraqi civilians get in Feluja.

If I can give any insight as to what the Bible says to help people understand so in the day of judgment Jesus will not look at me and ask me why I did not try to help others. Thank you for your comments.
