I'm trying to lose a couple of inches and I don't believe in missing a meal! Is it ok to replace a meal with a smoothie, i.e. banana, raspberries, grapes, orange juice/milk?

It's most definitely okay to replace a meal with a smoothie, especially if you are making it with healthy and fresh ingredients such as the fruit you mentioned above. Go ahead and I'm sure you'll begin to lose the inches!

Oh and here's a great recipe for a low fat, low cal smoothie: http://merely-flawed.com/index.php/2007/06/22/raspberry-peach-smoothie/

It is ok provided your total calorie intake for any given day doesn't go below 1200. You'd probably feel more full for longer if you just ate the fruit but as long as you're not starving. That combined with your 30 to 40 minutes of exercise everyday will have you looking and feeling awesome! Good luck!

It doesn't hurt you to do this. It is definately healthier than skipping the meal altogether. I suggest you try finding smoothie recipes that use silken tofu to ensure that you are getting the protein you need. You don't really taste the tofu, just the fruits you use in the smoothie.

Yeah, as long as it's dinner (lunch for you southerners! ;D) and not tea, and you use a lot of fresh fruit and water in it.

The current reccomended healthy eating plan is four or five small to medium meals a day, each one (apart from breakfast) should contain some carbohydrates (rice/pasta/potatoes etc) some protien (chicken, fish, etc) and lots of vitamins minerals and antioxidants (fresh fruit and veg). You can pile your plate high with as much veg and snack on as much fruit/fruit juice as you like. Just keep one day a week as your 'treat day' where you get a takeaway/pizza/whatever.

Depends which meal! Breakfast, absolutely. Lunch, yeah, but I would also have some cubes of cheese for protien. Dinner, once in a while, MAYBE. Dinner is your time to get your daily food. Try cooking a small piece of salmon with asparagus, green beans or broccoli. It is healthy, good for diets, and you won't feel deprived.

breakfast is the most important meal of the day it gets your body ready for the day ahead so dont replace it!! if its weight you wanna lose am sorry but it boils down to healthy living and excercise

Depends on you age, work and weight, but in general, no. You need carbohydrate and protein at most stages of your life. One meal a day, if you're grossly fat maybe, but a sensible diet, and more excercise would be a better way of doing it.
