if you've read my last question, you should
know that im 5'6 and 136 lbs, yes fat dont make funn

im going to try a diet where i eat around 481 calories
per day, and exercise at least 30 minutes per day.

most people said that doing this will put my body in
starvation mode, and i really dont want that. so im wondering,

what if i slowly decrease my calorie intake everyday,
and work my way down to 481? will my body get used
to the changes? please help, and please dont tell me
not to do this, because i already know that i really want
to. please just help and support me :] i love this site.

481, whether you do it immediately or a little at a time, is still going to initiate starvation mode along the way. Your body needs a certain amount of calories a day. As soon as you give it less than that number (and I can guarantee you it is much higher than 481), you will go in starvation mode. And then forget about your weight loss.

AND, when you eventually go off this diet, guess what will happen? Yes, you will gain all the weight back, but this time your metabolism will be slower and you will have less muscle mass (muscle burns calories). So, it will be harder to lose the second time.

My advice. There are more ways to lose weight than to diet. Actually, dieting itself is pretty inefficient for losing weight because you are always endangering yourself of going into starvation mode. Better to eat slightly less than usual AND exercise. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. EASY -- BURN more calories, and you'll already have a deficit. In other words, exercise to create that deficit. Eat slightly less (like 200 - 300 calories) and there's your deficit.

LOW CALORIE DIETS HAVE PROVEN TO BE TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE AND WILL ONLY LEAD TO WEIGHT GAIN AGAIN. Low calorie diets starve your muscle and lower your metabolism. Don't do it. I've been doing this a long time, friend. Do it the right way the first time or you'll be repeating this pattern again.

you need to find out what your sedentary caloric needs are daily. that means if you just laid in bed and slept, how many calories your body would burn in a 24 hour period. i am five two and weigh 110 lbs and my body needs 1200 calories a day just to sleep. you should definitely cut calories but you also have to make good eating choices!! if you go down to 481 calories a day it will still go into starvation mode regardless of whether you do it immediately or if you did it over a period of a month. your body would be malnourished. you would likely start losing hair and your gums would become infected and eventually the teeth will loosen and possibly fall out. your hair and nails will also not grow adequately and you would have no energy to function. also you would get sick very easily. your immune system would be SHOT!!

if you want to lose weight you need to eat a balanced diet. i suggest keeping a food diary for about three days. don't cheat and don't underestimate calories eaten. after that three days cut your calories. 3500 calories is a pound so if you cut 500 a day you'll lose a pound a week without adding exercise. if you cut 1000 a day you'll lose two pounds a week. it's really not safe to lose more than that.

the most important thing is to eat properly. eat enough protein (40-60 grams a day) enough fiber (30-40 grams a day) and to not get too much fat!!! no junk food! eat lean meat, fruits and veggies.

good luck!

You will die if you eat that much every day. I don't care what you say, starving yourself to death isn't the way. There is no "help" for what your doing, only to say don't. Sorry if it goes against what you want me to say, but i have to.
