Ive heard I dont have to pay state taxes in California for being active duty military is this true, and if so how do I go about getting it back and/or stop it from being deducted from my paychecks?

If you are a CA resident you must be serving in a combat zone or qualified hazardous duty area. Or assigned outside the U.S., away from your normal duty station, in connection with a contingency operation. Otherwise the Peoples Republic Of California will get their money.

HEY BRO, GO TO S-1 AT YOUR BATTALION THEY HAVE THE PAPERWORK, IT TAKES ABOUT 3 DAYS TO TAKE AFFECT. AND NO YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY STATE TAXES FOR CA. GLAD TO HELP OUT A FELLOW BROTHER IN ARMS. CARRY ON.

Just go to your finance office and they can take care of it. If you don't you will get back every penny when you file. Up to you.
