allow them to communicate with the illegals in our schools), They complyed but informed me that it would hurt my daughter in later years as to not be able to fit in. Does it not make anyone else angry that even the schools think that we will be over run with illegals in the future. I am sorry, but I for one Speak English, and untill another flag is flown over Washington DC than old glory, I will not bow my head and learn someon elses language just so they can live here illegally.

(And I speak German, so I am not against learning other languages)

Why are they spending money teaching Americans how to speak Spanish instead of teaching foreign children to speak English?

And I too speak more than 1 language.

Hey sympathizers, the last time I checked this was still the United States. Mandating language is only another way to make illegal immigration more accepted. By making us adapt to foreigners only makes it less likely that foreigners, illegal or legal, will NEVER adapt into American culture.

Languages should be ELECTIVE! One day, they will say that we all have to be educated in the religious back rounds of all those who come from other countries, then they will FORCE religious education in public schools.

What will you say then???? When and where do we draw the line between the US and every hole in the wall country that has it's citizens living among ours??

Why are you all so ready to give our country and culture to every single immigrant? When some of my ancestors came here, they couldn't get a job until they LEARNED THE LANGUAGE. They had to adapt, and then they became successful.

Not forcing immigrants from learn English will only insure that we have to pay for every single one of them, and will only keep them down.

If you gave a damn at all about those who want to come here, or for your own children, you would be outraged that they aren't required to adjust to OUR culture.

Do you think that if you moved to France, they would accommodate you? What about Mexico? I think not.
But lets make a deal, you go and live somewhere else and tell me if they change their entire culture to accommodate you. If they do, I'll agree to let American Schools teach our children how to sell their heritage to the highest bidder.

You pandering fools make me sick.

Hey, Gordita de Oro, if you are going to insult someone by saying "YOUR STUPID", you might want to use "YOU'RE", otherwise, you only show YOUR own mental shortcomings.

I also see a lot of people calling tha asker names instead of arguing the issue. But what else can be expected of people who claim to be so tolerant, and yet belittle someone by calling them names. If you can't articulate your argument without resorting to childish, immauture tactis, then STFU and let the adults talk.

Brother Cain as a fellow mason I must agree with your attitude. Allow me to encourage you to run for the school board. Ask your brethren to do the same! The lodge used to be in the forefront of the leadership of the nations education system. It is about time that we step up and assume that birthright once again. This will probably get frowned upon by many people and may even get a violation but the truth is not anyone's private purview to choose what was real and what was not. As a retired disabled Electrical Contractor who speaks Spanish, German, and some Russian, I also do not have any problem with learning other languages for use in visiting other countries. Anyone who is forcing it to allow others to break our laws are aiding and abetting a fourth degree felony and should be charged.

Edit: Most of the people who read your question missed your point entirely. When people break the law it is wrong. The school system is helping people break our laws and need to be held accountable.

There are English speaking illegals in this country as well. I just thought I'd let you know. Your question is the most horrible and ethnocentric question I have ever seen. Learning Spanish wont hurt her, it may give her that extra edge she needs in life to be successful. My daughter is learning Arabic, Spanish and English. I guess you'll say that she can talk to terrorists and illegals huh? :P

We live in a great country. Knowing other languages opens the world up to us. Its a beautiful thing. Don't let your ignorance and bigotry stand in the way of your daughter's growth and expanding her knowledge.

I think she should be able to have her own choice, unless she`s too young. It`s been so many years since I was in grade school, but in the 1950`s I had a Spanish class back then. I didn`t even understand why, and only remember a few words. Shouldn`t there be a choice in high school what language you choose to learn? Seems in grade school it should be the Spanish kids learning English first before the American kids have to. The future is all this global business, but should be her choice by then. Looks like Chinese is going to be a big one-maybe the schools should start with a language that`s harder first,or multiple choices. It all kind of sucks if we HAVE to in order to have a job?? Maybe the future will be more different then we know with technology-some kind of hand-held device that will instantly translate what others say in their language. Who knows?

guage in order to communicate... What's going to happen when she gets older and has a job a customer or client walks up to her and speaks spanish and she doesn't know... In the Work Field, they do ask if you are bilingual it gives a better chance to be hired besides any other jobs she may have in the future.
When she goes off to College, Are you going to decide what classes she's going to take, She's going to end up taking a second Language anyway

I am a daughter of a immigrant who just 2 years ago became a American Citize

You know it's better to learn both languages especially now that so many people are coming into this country...They come here and learn our language in order to communicate... I am a daughter of a immigrant who just 2 years ago became a American Citizen, and I find it offensive that just because they come into our country you degenerate them because they can't speak a word of English or because you feel that your child doesn't need to know the language, That is what SCHOOL is for!!! To Learn..... No body lives here illegally.... Let me tell you this... They come into this country to gain 3 things, Freedom, Family, and A way of Life....My father came here from Mexico and looked at an American Bald Eagle, which symbolizes Freedom... This country has done a lot for him. Now my Dad is 51, and is A Proud American Like you and me....

Here's another thing
If it wasn't for illegal immigrants, would you have an apartment? Remember they don't only work in Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Knitting Sweaters or Clean Toilets, They build apartments, houses, condos, etc.... So guess what, instead of you judgmenting on what Flag goes over the White House, Check the United Nations out in NYC..They have different flags for different countries right outside.....

spanish. At least she can tell them, where she's hurt and she needs help right away!
No one is asking you to bow your head.Your daughter has a wonderful opportunity to know how to speak 3 languages. You can speak english and german. This would open so,so many more doors for her in so many ways.
4.) When filling out resumes' for colleges, and many careers such as medical, telecommunications and other classes.may have a requirement for spanish. Why not let her have a headstart now.Instead of having to cram another class in later to catch up.
Please Sir,don't deny her ! I, pray you change your mind!

Widen your blinders! Think about it in other ways. Not all Mexicans are illegals! The are so many other important reasons to let your daughter learn spanish!
1.) It's free
2.) For every language she learns, she has better job opportunites herself ,she can go into a job an ask for $100 more a week.because all buisnesses are not owned by mexican americans but need people who speak different languages
3.) In so many emergency situations that could come up.Your daughter falls or something .The only one who sees her speaks spanish. At least she can tell them, where she's hurt and she needs help right away!

I totally agree with you.

I live in Tx, and there are illegals galore down here...
I took two years of spanish because it was required in High School. I failed both years...

I still have to take it in College... but after that, I will just forget it... Because I am American, I do not plan on going to Mexico, or Spain, or any other spanish country....

I think that if they wanna be in here, they need to learn english and become LEGAL...
