TRUE STORY:

In Kansas City, a young black woman (employee) got arrested at a local McDonald's because she put too much salt on his hamburger and he had to be taken to the hospital. This man just so happened to be a police officer.

Now, when I first heard this on the news I was speechless and after I got over the shock I couldn't help but laugh at the situation.

Do you think she should have been arrested or do you think that the officer was abusing his power?

I am prepared for Smart-Alec comments so bring 'em on.

She says that she didn't mean to do it. The employee said that she made herself a hamburger that was a little salty also. I'm thinking, maybe she should stay on the register or something. LOL

Maybe it's racist and maybe it's not. Who's to say? I hate throwing up the race card but....I kinda wonder.

On the other hand, have you ever eaten something so nasty that you feel that the person who made it should be arrested? Many questions.

I'm sorry, it didn't happen in Kansas City, it happened in Georgia. I assumed that since I saw it on the news in my hometown that it was one of our stories. The news never did say where it was from though. Here is a link.

I've heard this story too, but the way I heard it, the employee and her boss both admitted that they accidentally spilled salt on the meat. They said they tried their best to clean it and get as much as possible off of the meat, but apparently they didn't get it cleaned enough.

The only question I would have is this:

If the meat was SO CONTAMINATED with salt that one single hamburger would contain enough to send a person to the hospital, then the meat would CERTAINLY have tasted bad. Why then, did the officer in question consume the entire burger, instead of just taking one bite and saying "Wow, this tastes like a can of smashed turds. I think I'll stop eating it!"?

This has the stink of setup all over it. An over-salted hamburger would not send you to the hospital. And if it did, it would mean that you already had a medical condition that was amplified by the salted meat, but if that is the case, what the heck was the cop doing eating at McDonald's anyway?

McDonalds should step up and pay for this employee's defense. She is not a criminal, and in my opinion, does not deserve the way she's being treated. If the cop really thought that he was wronged, he should have sued McDonalds for his medical care. But to arrest the employee? That makes NO sense unless the cop is a racist.

If the officer ordered it without salt and or she did it to make him or her sick then it is assault and yes she should have been arrested. If it was an accident then no. I have been in a lot of fast food places and salt isn't a normal thing to put on a hamburger by the employees so yes she should have been because she did it on purpose.

Yes the cop did go overboard. But if the employee of Mcdonalds knew she put to much salt on the hamburger. Then why did she serve it in the first place? Common sense would tell most people to throw it out and make a new burger.

Was he so stupid he couldn't tell there was a lot of salt? Isn't it his responsibility to be aware of what he eats? His being a police officer does not relieve him of an obligation he has of watching out for himself.
The young woman who was arrested is surely being victimized in some way. There is no way she could put a dangerous amount of salt on a burger. The salt would be visually obvious.
This cannot be the whole story.

sure, some no longer ALL, yet some do abuse their potential. yet there are some situations the place a man or woman should be tazed greater suitable than as quickly as. you could no longer bypass judgment purely via what you have study or heard interior the close by information. And sure some human beings do die (very few) from being tazed. There are quite a few states that don't enable tazers via danger of dying. And this reason is by using the fact if somebody has a foul coronary heart they could o.k. die in the event that they have been tazed. And the police have no way of understanding if somebody has a foul coronary heart. Or and elderly man or woman could additionally fairly die from being tazed. yet please do no longer label ALL law enforcement officers as undesirable via movements of a few. i understand you're actually not, yet some human beings do.

You gotta walk a mile in someone's shoes before you try to judge them.

I've been a cop.

I've been to Kansas City, and know how a lot of people feel about cops.

I've also worked at McDonald's, and know how hard it is to add so much salt that the customer even notices.

I can't say with certainty that he did abuse his power.

no. it is considered posioning. the salt content was WAY too high. and you can't tell my that they didn't notice the high amount of salt on the hamburger...him being a cop has nothing to do with it, he didn't arrest her, he was in the hospital, it was the other police officers. not him personally. and you would have done the same thing if you had to go to the hospital for posioning...

The employee knew it was a cop that ordered the burger and purposely dumped on a load of salt. The cop, in my opinion, has the right to arrest and charge the kid with assault or anything else he wants to.

maybe he does not know what era he is living in. i think he should be re evaluated from his higher ups. i do not know maybe his breeding was one of those brothe and sister things. i have been there and i do not remember any part of both kansas city mosouri or kansas city kansas. i am wondering if yhey really use salt or do they use a substitute. i think the cap needs to go to jail also to where he would have to put a lot of salt on his food just to give it a taste. is that my final answer? no i think brain dead would be my final answer

Yes, it's tampering with food and an assault, assuming he was injured. And believe it or not, salt can injure you. Assuming it was maliciously done, they should have arrested her. Intent is definitely the issue as a prosecutor that I'd be concerned about. Was he in uniform at the time it happened? Did she make any oral or written statements to any law enforcement personnel? Did she has prior interactions with this PO?
