It was never really practiced in Northern countries. It just wasn't practical. Secondly, most baptisms are with infants anyway, in front of family and friends. It isn't a necessary form of the rite.

Actually in many Catholic churches infants are baptized nude. When my grandson was baptized he was nude and after baptism he was dressed in his christening gown. I am sure they do not baptize adults nude. If they start I will definitely go back to church for the Easter vigil!
