I live in a 2 person dorm (in college) and I am trying to get a good, clean workspace for me to use strictly for homework and studying. The only problem is excess clutter. I have a lot of needless junk that I can't find other spots for. On my desk, I have a lamp, clock, a small organizer with pens and pencils. I have a laptop so that saves some space. But I have wires for everything to charge. I have 3 drawers with general items in them, along with one for my college books.

I want to know where I can put all the other junk on my desk, and how do I keep it clean and organized?

Try to find a hutch that will fit over your desk and that should give you the additional storage space that you need. Good luck!

Take everything off desk, except for computer.
1] invest in some underbed storage containers - use for extra clothes, or the 'general items'. If you can fit more than one [ usually two will fit ], sort according to use
2] put a shelf/bookcase over the desk. Place lamp, clock, etc., on it. use magazine holders for different blank papers, folders, notebooks, etc.
3] get a drawer organizer for top drawer in desk. Put pens, pencils, stapler, scissors, etc in drawer. Use pen/pencil holder for dresser, or put in drawer to save quarters for laundry.
4] get cord wraps all the same [ wall ] color, and loosely connect them, so they are less obtrusive

I would find a sufficient shelf...or a hutch that will fit good over your desk. Then i would find some kind of organization system your comfortable with...and stick to it to organize your stuff.m

I also find it useful to have some sort of junk drawer....or space....for the stuff u dont want to throw away, but there's no place to put it. : )

Good luck!!!

I have a teeny tiny desk in my bedroom, and I don t really have space to put in a bigger one... and on top of my desk I have an organization lamp with pencils and pens and clips in the base of it, and I have shelves next to my desk and teeny tiny ones on top of the surface of my desk, and I don t have any more space!!! I put a ton of stuff inside too, and since my ceiling is slanted a weird way, I can t even put any shell especially above it!! HELP please???

i love this question....this is right up my alley :o)

Go to the Dollar Stores.....
buy those stacking drawers ....they are very narrow and dont take up much space....
they have tiny ones or really huge ones.......whatever you need....
you can stack them vertically as high as you need them to go
When you organize things by going vertical you reduce the desk top clutter and put things out of sight that you are not using right at that moment on your desk..............yet the stuff is still very handy in case you need quick access to it
