I've been trying to cut coke and caffeine out of my diet in an effort to become healthier. I've just been drinking a lot of water, some milk and quite a bit of juice. A friend of mine told me that drinking juices such as apple and white grape are just as bad for you as soda is, and that I shouldn't even bother cutting out soda if I'm going to drink the juices. I thought juices were better for you though. Does anybody know which is actually better, if either?

Juice. Cranberry or Orange are really good for you. They provide vitamins and minerals apple don't have. Cranberry juice is also really good for bladder/kidney health. Also, concorde grape juice is supposed to be really excellent for your heart!!Keep in mind that coke also contains phosphopric acid, (besides the caffeine) which eats away at your bones. Drink juice, and keep up the water....it will be GOOD for your health!!

Calorie-wise: neither. Both are about the same. (Check the labels - orange juice can be 120 calories for 8oz. I think a regular Coke is 150. ) BUT, juices like unsweetened cranberry have some healthy properties - like antioxidents. If you can eat the fruit instead though, you'd probably be more satisfied. (You can eat an orange for about 50 calories or so and you get more fiber than the juice provides.)

Plain water is really your best bet if you're watching your calories. Slice an orange, lemon, or lime into it for some flavor.

BUT, if you enjoy drinking juice, no need to give it up completely. Just mix it with an equal amount of plain seltzer or club soda - you get the full glass for half the calories.

100% juice is certainly better for you than soda is, but it is still quite high in natural sugars (fruit in general is, and drinking juice is like eating several pieces of the equivalent fruit). If you're cutting out soda because you're concerned about caloric intake or the amount of sugar you're consuming, you'll want to limit your juice too. If you're cutting it for other reasons, then don't worry too much about the juice. There are a lot of vitamins in there along with the sugar! Make sure you read labels, though, and that you're getting 100% juice and not fruit-flavored sugar water.

Juice is actually better. Your friend made this comment, because juice has a lot of sugar in it too. Coke has refined sugar, which is worse for diabetes and cancer and everything. The way to cut it out and feel better is to mix half a cup of "100% juice" with half a cup of water. It still tastes all juicy, but you don't get as much sugar.

Well it kinda depends on what type of juice you're drinking. If you drink like some sugary juice like high-c or something then yeah it's bad for you. But if you drink good 100% fruit juice such as Welches then it's very good for you. Not much is worse than drinking Soda, and juice definitely is better for you, but like i said, it really depends.
Hope I helped! =]

Hello:

Actually, neither is really good for you because both Coca Cola and Juice have alot of sugar. The best thing that you can drink is water and if you have to have juice, than the 100% juices are better than Coca Cola is. High Fructose Corn syrup is in alot of juices,so try to find juices that don't have high fructose corn syrup in them because it isn't good for your body.

V-8 vegetable juice is really good for you and if you have to watch your sodium intake,V-8 makes a low sodium version too. When it comes to fruit juice, try not to drink anymore than eight ounces of juice a day.

Orange Juice has folic acid in it and it also has Vitamin C in it too, which is a great way to start your day along with a bowl of cereal, toast or even a blueberry or banana nut muffin! ;-)

You need to find juices that do not have added sugars or high fructose corn syrup. I read labels in the store and you need to find the most natural juices you can find. The best drink for your body is water & we drank lots more of it growing up before all the other sodas were on the market.

Always got for 100% fruit juices, not from concentrated.

Like Orange or pineapple, you can blend fruit in it with a bit of milk and sugar (to taste) for a frapee and is far better than soda drinks, which contain high fructose corn syrup, which has been linked with childhood diabetes and obesity.

I remember once, when sodas where sweetened with real sugar, they tasted much better, but nowadays is hard to find a drink outside of water and milk that is not sweetened with HFCS.

Depends on what I'm consuming with it. If I am having lunch or dinner, then I desire Coke. For breakfast I opt for juice. If I simply get thirsty for the period of the day then I simply drink water.
