The mother of the bride was saying to me "Do this type of picture this way "AND that way! Turn my daughter this way! Have her here.....there....over there.....Put the lights here in her face!! So!!!! I said "Excuse me Mrs Jones.....When you go to the dentist do you tell the dentist how to do his/her work"? She said "NO"....I said "Then why are you trying to tell me how to do my job"? She hushed up and I did nice work from that point on. What's with these people? My wife said I should have kept my mouth shut. I say I should have and "WILL" say Enough! when I've had enough.

Over all they were very nice people. But the Mother of the Bride did bad mouth me big time after she had a few drinks.

I would have probably said "Thank you for explaining to me what you want. Now, just look beautiful in the pictures and I will do a great job for you". It is non-confrontational and let's you be in control.

You should have handed her the camera and said "Here Mrs. Jones, since you are such an expert at photography why don't you take your daughters pictures and save her some money. Or better yet tell her "For the grooms sake I hope your daughter doesn't know as much as you think you do.

you're proper; she grow to be out of line to air all that for the duration of public. although, confirm you probably did the terrific situation too, until now you throw stones. in case you knew that lots of the persons at this social gathering might comprehend your mom from until now, or very nicely, yet they might not comprehend your FMIL, did you're making a factor of status at the same time with your FMIL and introducing her to anybody to make her experience welcome & a factor of issues? Did you invite your FMIL to the expo while the pal suggested it? (which, by ability of how, it grow to be rude of your pal to ask you & your mom in front of the FMIL without additionally inviting her!). possibly you are going to be able to desire to contemplate this until now being so difficult on her. She is a mom, purely like your mom; she has a newborn getting married, purely like your mom. yet she purely gets to purchase a gown and show up to the marriage. in case you and your FH have a son, think of how this might make you experience while he gets married. right here is this pleasing infant boy you have enjoyed and raised all this time, and then while he gets engaged, you may desire to take a seat on the side traces at the same time with your mouth close & pay attention to anybody else have exciting making plans it. She might have been out of line on that one situation, yet you may desire to evaluate her emotions extra & do your best to make her experience a factor of all of it.

You said it perfectly. It was not rude to tell her that you know what you're doing. It is aggravating when people think they need to tell you what to do and how to do it when you are the pro.

You did nothing wrong. You were hired to do a job. Not have someone tell you how to do your job. Congrats for standing up for yourself.
