Yea, well I don't know if it is dangerous, but I have a very bad habit of chewing on headphone wires. Like if I'm sitting here listening to music or something, I'll chew all the way to the actual wire... how do I stop? Lol....it's weird, but addicting =D

You could get a package of the thin, string-like black licorice, it looks just like headphone wires! Try to find something else for your mouth to do while listening to music like chewing tobacco. They make wireless headphones; maybe that would help. Also, you can seek some consolation in that the voltage that is fed to head phones is unlikely to be high enough to be dangerous even if you chewed trhough the insulation.

i knew a dog once who chewed shoelaces, rope, string. anything like that. the phonograph wouldn't work one day. we found he'd bitten through the electrical cord. it must have hurt a lot, but didn't do any damage to him. he was scared of anything remotely like a string or wire, after that, though.

Well, ask your friends+family to remind you to stop if they see you doing it. If you start doing it when nobody is around, then realize that you're doing it and tell yourslef not to. If you don't do it for a while, give yourslef a little treat.
I don't think it would give you a shock or anything like that, but I don't think it's anything you should keep doing.

It probably isn't very safe :) Try chewing gum when you have your headphones on...it's safer and probably tastes better :)

you can buy the nail polish that makes people stop biting their nails, and put it on the cord, it will just taste pretty bad and eventually make a link in your head between cords and unpleasant taste.
