One of my favorite scriptures that I have read, which you may not agree with because I am LDS is found in our Doctrine and Covenants chapter 64 verses 9 and 10..
9 Wherefore, I say unto you, that ye ought to forgive one another; for he that forgiveth not his brother his trespasses standeth condemned before the Lord; for there remaineth in him the greater sin.
10 I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men.
Rather or not you take this or not, it is still great advice. We judge by what we have been taught, and all Christians have been taught that we must forgive. So by us not forgiving those who sin against us, lies the greatest sin of all.
And yes God can always forgive who he wants, but we have no choice.

Forget verses for now - its the heart that has to forgive - and I guess your heart is pretty hurt and angry at the moment - you could say its had quite a blow and as such needs time to recover...this is biologically true too. The information it has received has caused some potent chemicals the be released in your brain and these are registering as "heart ache' So the brain says I should forgive but the heart says "I've been stabbed with the sharpest knife". Realise why you can't psysholigally forgive at this stage. Cry whatever but don't build the idea "he did me wrong, he did me worng".We all have done wrong.

Some points about forgiveness:
Jesus said forgive seventy time seven if you have to.
Jesus said no one is good, only God is good, obey his commands.
Jesus said this is how we should pray "Our Father...forgive us as we forgive them who trespass against us"
Jesus said love our enemise.

Its all hard stuff I know - but don't judge your husband - he has to work out why he is like he is - the causes for his behaviour may be something deep that he does not even understand. He is probably very unhappy too.

Do you know the Lord's Prayer?
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Forgive, YES.
Forget, no. We are not commanded to forget. No where in the Bible does God call on us to forget.
The difference is this: When we forgive, that means that we will not use the old sin as a weapon in the future. Forgetting will lead to a repeat of the sin in the future, as you blind yourself to the signs that tell you something wrong is going on!

Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

I would not only be looking for verses on forgiveness but also verses on marriage. When you understand the level of commitment you made when you said your vows you will probably get even more angry at what your husband did. Yet you will also have a better motivation on why you need to forgive your husband and try to make the best out of your marriage.

I applaud you for seeking Bibical advice on this subject. I am so glad you have a desire to seek a resolution with your husband. In today's society, and even amoung Christians people think that infidelity equals the divorce card. Yet infidelity only gives you permissiveness for a divorce yet it does not mean that God wants you to get a divorce nor does it mean you should get a divorce. People heal, recover, and rebuild marriages even after infidelity.

Matt 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Luke 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Some KJV Verses on Forgiveness:

2 Cor 2:7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Matthew 18:21-22
21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

One final thought...I know you might be thinking, "I can never forgive him of such a horrible sin." My response to that would be, what if God said that to us?

Forgiving others is not something that comes from reading verses... that comes from really being "in the Word of God."

Now, I am speaking of the "Word of God" Jesus actually spoke about in the parable of the Sower... long before the Bible ever came along. This resource will explain the missing part that would actually change a person so that they can forgive others....

Thanks for asking such an important question.

I'm sorry dear. Read Matthew 5, the beatitudes. Jesus speaks of forgiveness. Pray to God that He can change your heart, take out the mistrust, resentment, anger and pain and replace it with peace and love and forgiveness. Only Jesus can do such a thing.

Psalm 51. This is the prayer where David asked GOD for forgiveness. I realize that this prayer is what your husband should be praying about. However, you wanted a prayer for your own forgiveness.

GOD bless

The one that helped me was in Romans. Vengeance is mine said the Lord I will repay. You have to forgive or your Father in heaven will not forgive you.

Ephesians 4:32 - Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Sorry, I do not use the King James deliberate mistranslation.

Mt 6:14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
