My father is Catholic, my mother is Jewish. Is it possible for me to then be half Catholic and half Jewish? Or must I choose to practice only one of the two?

I think it is the mother that makes the child Jewish. But you can embrace both. It is your choice.

The fundamental part of every religion is pure spirituality. Whether you take the Jewish or the Catholic teachings, if you go all the way and follow the teachings perfectly, you should be able to attain the same goal which is love of God.

I've heard that traditional Jewish rules say you should take the faith of your mother.

Thankfully, we are living in a world where no one can force you to follow any religious rules. Follow your heart. You can choose one or the other, neither, or you can study both and develop your own spiritual views.

There are many ways to experience the divine. I personally have no use for organized religion.

Maybe this will help- Chosen People read Exodus 19:4-6 Deuteronomy 7:6-8 Psalms 105:43 These are in ref. to the people of Israel, Old Testement.

1st Peter 2:9 New Testement Christians are members of the "chosen generation".

I gave you these passages so that you can read for yourself and maybe understand what God wants for you, not what others want you to do because of what they think.

Do only what God calls you to do and it will be rite.

God Bless, Joe V

if u choose to blend the two religions, then it would be called a mixture of two sets of beliefs. both Jews and christians believe that straying from the center of either makes u a non-believer. also, if u choose catholicism over Judaism then u will be cast out of the Jewish community until u reconcile your relationship with them. my advice is to stay away from religion because if even your parents can't decide what to teach u, tehn neither is very confident in their religion.

I think you should be whatever you believe in. When I found a found what I thought was a spiritual truth, I figured if it was in one religion, it would be found, in all healthy religions. Something I discovered was that at the cornerstone of them all was the belief that we all need to love without condition, and that most religions believe in reincarnation. So I picked my way through The God with many faces and names, which created what my faith is made of. As I found spiritual truths I found that I was more able to have faith with more clarity and conviction. This gives me the opportunity to live as spiritual as possible. Well, I can at least do my best, as well as we all stumble, and struggle which seems to be the lot in life for humans.
Blessed Be

Ah! I'm the same as you!!

TECHNICALLY, we are Jewish because our mothers are (what i've been told) but, just decide what you want. They are 2 very different religions.

BTW, i'm agnostic considering being an atheist..just in case you wanted to know what someone is in your exact situation.

I had more Jewish influence in my life (my dad hated catholicism...thanks to catechism when he was younger and his fam being a bunch of ******* while claiming to be good christians) but i realize i don't think i believe in all this religious stuff. i'm more spiritual.

The question to ask here is: Do I accept Jesus as the Son of the one true God, and as Savior of my eternal soul?

If your answer to THAT question is "yes" then you are Christian. One place for a Christian to meet in fellowship is a Catholic Church.

If your answer to that question is "no" then one option is Judaism.

I don't believe that you can be "half and half" since neither half is compatible with the other.

God bless you.

The Jews will accept you because of your Mother being Jewish.

The Catholics will accept you if you are confirmed.

I accept you...just the way you are.
