first-talk to your Dr. about when it is safe to exercise. It's usually about 6 weeks especially if you have stitches. Also, don't get frustrated. It took you 9 months to gain the weight so it will take a while to lose it. The best way in addition to a healthy diet is to do some cardio mixed with weight training 2 x/week. Gaining muscle weight will help lose the weight. With small weights you won't be bulking up.

My advice, dont kill yourself trying to loose the weight. I know it is uncomfortable, but it took you 9months to gain it, so its okay if it takes a little while to loose it.. Start by something simple. Your body is still used to the activities you were doing while you were pregnant, so anything more excessive to that is going to give you a work out. Try walking, walking give your whole body a work out, and since you are complaining of the baby pooch, make sure you are holding your abs tight. I know this may sound a little crazy, but you should try the work outs they have on tv in the morning. I record Denise Alston, and My workouts on Lifetime. Denise starts off slow, but the workouts are great. Good Luck.

If your doctor says it is o.k. to exercise...start out on the treadmill. Walking is great exercise...you will lose weight closest to your heart, then the lower areas will show improvement. Try different cardio machines, but if you are wanting to lose fat fast...do not waste your time w/weights for about a month; unless you enjoy it...Good Luck
