What's the best and quickest way to turn handwriting from a notebook into a typed Word document? I use a Mac.

Scan it into the computer, and send the file to a fast-typing friend.

Scanners are becoming passé nowadays. I use a digital camera on a tripod to take a picture of documents. That makes the same picture file as a scanner. But for your purpose, you still need a scanner with optical character recognition (OCR) software. Even with that, you may not achieve your goals. Our eyes and brains can understand handwriting fairly well (good luck reading what I write.) but computer software can barely deal with odd fonts so I can't guarantee that OCR software will read handwritten words.
