*sigh* Since Christians are obviously all exactly the same, and since I'm sure at least one Christian would, I guess I'd have to say "yes".

This is in the Old Testament:

Jeremiah 29:8
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

Here is what Jesus said:

Mat 24:3
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Mat 24:4
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Peace be with you

Not all Christians think or believe exactly alike. But I think yes, many Christians leave themselves open to being led around by the nose.

Corrupt religious leaders snuggle up to secular political power today just as in Jesus' day. They conflate political idea with religious ideas and some believers (too many believers, if you ask me) simply believe uncritically what they are told.

This is partly because Christianity, to many Christians, is all about belief, not ethics or morals or principles, simply believing what you are supposed to believe.

The book of Revelation in the New Testament tells us that in the final days there will be false prophets and that many will be deceived. You have to ask yourself: Who will be deceived by false prophets? Not agnostics or atheists who don't believe in prophets to start with. Not Christians who listen critically and say: "Hey, wait a minute! That's not what Jesus taught at all!" The ones who are deceived are those who don't think things out for themselves, who just swallow what they're told.

(Again, I want to stress that this isn't -all- Christians. I know Christians who I think 'get it'.)

I think that a follower of Christ would be more apt to recognize it because they study the scriptures and are more aware of the deception that is going on in the world. That is why I feel sorry for certain people that don't have a reverence for God. Either they are being deceived, or they are part of the deception. God is real. He loves everyone and wishes to see no one condemned. He loves YOU most of all.

For those who stay "in tune" with the Holy Spirit and the written word, the Bible, deception would be minimal at the most. But, Jesus said that there would come a deception so great that even " the very elect" would be deceived.

This is why prayer and listening to the Lord, as well as knowing scripture is vitally important.
