Chains are for really severe weather and deep snow.
Studded snows are best for ice and hard packed snow.
Snow or M/S (mud and snow) tires are best for all around use.
Chains require adequate clearance, and are only for low speed use. Up to approx. 40 MPH.
Studded snows are not legal everywhere, or may have restrictions on when they can be used. ex: Oct 1 through March 31.
Snow, M/S and all season tires may be used year round.
If you add weight to the rear of your car, please have your headlamps adjusted as well. Added weight in the rear raises the front, and headlights that are not re-set will blind oncoming drivers.

Snow chains give good traction, but I never recommend using them. They have to be removed when there is no snow, and a bad link could cause the whole chain to swing loose, tearing into the tire or fender. Either way, expensive and inconvenient to contend with. I don't know where you live, but I spent a lot of time up North and always used regular snow tires. You could use studded, but I recommend them only for extreme cases of ice and snow.
You might also want to throw a few bags of sand in the trunk when you thing bad weather is approaching. The extra ballast will help the tired get a better grip in the snow.

Studded snow tires if they are allowed where you live, work very well. Also put some extra weight like a couple of bags of sand in the trunk behind the wheel wells. this puts more weight on the rear drive wheels and is useful if you do get stuck to put under the wheels for traction. Hope this helps

I always used snow tires, driving to work in the snow, and never got stuck one time, but not sure they even make snow tires anymore. Chains would work, but they are such a hassle to put on and take off.

The snow tyres and chains you communicate of, are in straightforward terms utilized by capacity of motor vehicle vendors in Japan whilst there is snow or severe icy circumstances. You communicate as though they're used all the time in Japan, what you have got seen are "Off-highway" tyres on many automobiles; those at the instant are not snow tyres. Snow tyres have steel studs impregnated interior the rubber tread, to allow grip in ice and snow, yet using them for the duration of favourite circumstances reasons extreme injury to the line floor and are an incredibly extreme priced merchandise to purchase and replace. those snow tyres cost many circumstances the cost of a typical tyre and positioned on out lots extra without postpone. As for snow chains, those are a final hotel for use as they'll unavoidably reason injury to the conventional highway going tyre and different than for being incredibly awkward to in large condition to a automobiles tyres, the cost of them with the quantity of use the united kingdom driving force might get out of them makes them completely flawed and impracticable. If the snow interior the united kingdom continued for months and happened each year, then perhaps the purchases above might make experience, in any different case the place is the logic in buying them. Japan's climate is a lot extra severe han the united kingdom and probably extra predictable with favourite climate types, as unfavourable to the united kingdom, so because it incredibly is the reason many would have those thoughts of their possession.

Snow tires would help, I don't know about snow chains on a mustang.
As far as driving, do everything slowly. Speed up slowly, stop slowly, drive slower, turn slower, and you should be fine. Be sure to give yourself plenty of room to stop.

Get a set of studded snow tires on a spare set of wheels, they'd work good on the front also.
